I'm wonderig if it's worth getting the g74sx-dh73(3d) over the dh71. So I thought I would ask the users of all the 3d laptops.
I am willing to hear from any 3d users.

Hey Holy, welcome to the ROG Forum.

Firstly I have a 3D Model, but I suppose it's down to personal tastes, I mean I've only really used mine off and on, played abit of Crysis 2 and StrarCraft 2 in 3D, but mostly I use the 3D more with Blu-ray movies than I do with games, so far anyway. The 3D does add a little bit more to games, I mean Crysis 2 in 3D on Ultra with DX11 is truely a site to behold, but it comes down to what you want, if your a movie buff like me then I would recommend 3D without a doubt (make sure you get Cyberlink's PowerDVD 11 as the supplied CinePlayer is rubbish) as for games, does add a little something and least you can turn it off. My opinion go for the 3D model as gives you the best of both worlds. You may decide to occasionally use the 3D but least you know it's there if you want it. It's just a gimmick, the novelty wears off after awhile, esp if you keep getting headaches and the glasses are uncomfortable if you wear glasses yourself, but when you watch a decent 3D movie, you can't help but say WOW and first time I saw Crysis 2 in 3D (being my first 3D game I owned, I was like holy ****). lol.

As said it's it's basically user preference, but if the cost is about the same or at the top end of your budget, then go for it Holy. Here in the UK we get a choice of 2 G74Sx's, mines the 91131Z model with a 2630QM 2.0Ghz CPU and Nvidia GTX560M 3GB and the other option is the 91234Z which is another 3D model but uses a 2670QM 2.2GHz CPU and a Nvidia GTX460M 1.5GB. Naturally the cost is only a few £ but I decided to go for the better GPU in the 560M then with the better CPU again it's down to choice, do your research on each model (the above examples offer different screens, my 91131Z is Full HD 120Hz 3D 1920x1080, where as the 91234Z offers a HD LED 1600x900) compare the specs and make your decision on your overall usage. I mainly use 3D now to entertain the kids, for me the novelty has wore off, esp since leaving it on causes all sorts of problems, you can't just turn it off in game, even using the ROG button, you have to exit turn off 3D then restart game. Many a time I've loaded up Team Fortress 2 and APB Reloaded to be faced with 3D blurryness, lol.
