I placed my laptop on my electric cooker hob and it nudged one of the nobs to turn the heat on. lucky my gf came home and noticed it or could have been a lot worse, possibly an explosion!
I could claim it on my home insurance but I wanted to ask you guys if it's possible to get a replacement case so I could just swap all the parts over. it would be a he'll of a job but I've already had the thing in bits to clean out debris from the cpu fan.

.. what.. I just.. I don't understand.. *Shakes your shoulders* You dummy! What have you dooone?!

Have you made sure the battery has not received any damage? Remember, it's Li-ion and may be prone to exploding if it has been punctured from melting.

Also does the CD Tray still work?

If I was you, I'd claim on it, but if you find a back case for it, make sure you get the one that's the same thickness, remember the JH version is a little thicker and the screw holes I believe are in different places.

thanks for the advice regarding the differing g case sizes.
My first thought when I saw it on the hob was the battery exploding so I ran outside with it and left it there for 20 mins. lucky it wasn't raining - which, in Scotland, is a miracle in itself.
I noticed the standby light was still flashing when I brought it back in the house so I opened the lid to find that it works perfectly. I've even had it on charge and it seems to be OK. I think i might be fortunate that the damage to the battery is only to the corner of the plastic casing. Obviously I can guarantee there is no internal damage but with it working and charging I'm guessing it's fine.

Well.. cooling certainly won't be a problem for you now >x3

But yes to elaborate, the JW and JX are same thickness, JH is thicker. I am unsure however if JW has different screw positions. I still haven't found a source myself that sells them..

When all the people here can work on something good, they can know something more about it from more info here and they will love to have it. It will be amazing to ask them about it from start.
