All I had to do was to set the boot to SDD first or as priority (I don't know what exactly is) and then I just proceeded to install OS on it.

Do you plan to do a clean install?

I did a clean install and all I done was remove both HDD's that were in the laptop and installed the new SSD and carried out the clean install with only the SSD in the laptop.

Recently done a clean install of Windows 10 on a new SSD and followed the exact same procedure with no issues. Once installation was complete I added the HDD you plan to use as the secondary drive.

Hope this helps.

IF you want to move your stuff over, just get a disc clone software like Acronis to duplicate the whole drive HDD to SSD, then swap the drives around (leaving your HDD out, to test if the SSD works) in their bays and modify your boot order.

Then just try it out and boot up, see if it works. ;d
