how to read data off a ssd on a ASUS ROG G752VS?

a client's ASUS ROG G752VS, whose motherboard burned out. while i'm trying to locate a replacement one, i have to recover some data on the ssd.

unfortunately for my client, this ssd is one VERRRRRRY special ssd, as it is a

Toshiba THNSN5512GPU7 M.2 NVMe SSD

and it apparently can't be read by an ordinary $20 adapter that will take it to a usb ending, where i can plug it in to any PC and get those files.

can anyone direct me to the proper adapter? does it exist yet? thanks!!!

I think you'll have to put it in a PCIe adapter Card and put it in a computer and Image or download files from there I don't see any USB adapter for NVME

If your motherboard in another system has a M.2 slot, just plug it right in there. 😛

Read the OP, his motherboard is faulty.


Best method is as Clint has already stated. Buy a PCIE adapter and you can plug into any working system with a PCIE slot, however, you may need to locate and install the required NVME driver.

I agree however more likely than not that SSD is going have been run in RAID mode not sure what the OP wants to do but I sure would be trying to get a Disk Image from it.

Another MB is not going to come with an SSD so this one will go into the new MB.
As far as I know, Asus is still putting them out in RAID mode? if its put into a computer with windows 10, and the drive is set to run on an NVME driver the one windows 10 has native will work so only an IRST RAID driver may be needed.

More thoughts when placing this in a different computer it will still be an active booting drive so the OP will have to ensure when booting up that his original OS boots.
I would boot using whichever key will cause a boot menu to come up and make sure that his original OS boots to prevent damage to the M.2 OS and Boot Manager. This is going to be a little tricker than using a USB adapter, Care should be taken
