How to connect 144hz monitor to asus g752

I have an asus g752 and wanted to play games at 144hz using my 144hz monitor, so is it possible to connect and use 144hz?

I'm guessing you have an Nvidia card in your machine too? I don't hook up an external monitor to mine, but if you do you should see the options to ensure your desired settings in the Nvidia control panel. See the attached pic for where to look, and notice the dropdown for refresh rate.
