If you flash your BIOS up to 203 (for the G74SX) the numlock will be activated and the LED on all the time. Thats a problem for some of us, mind you, and one we've been asking ASUS to fix for some time now.

There is a freeware program called "numlocker" which I personally have not tried, but some here report works well.

It's an asus G74Sx,

another question, how can I flash my BIOS?

Here's a step-by-step for using EasyFlash to update your G74's BIOS.

Along the veins of dstrakele's advice above, be aware that the G74 has no backup/dual BIOS as is found in many desktops. The consequences of a bum flash for the G74 are a bricked computer that can only be rescued by the aggravation of shipping it back to ASUS. My extremely related pieces of advice Rulito are:
1) never flash the BIOS unless you're sure it will address a particular problem you are having. The old saying "if it ain't broke..." applies here. In this case you perhaps need the numlock on so its worth the attempt.
2) never ever flash the BIOS from an operating system like windows (*any* OS), even though ASUS makes a utility for you to do so. Risky...

Be aware, a problem during a BIOS flash may render your system unusable, recovered only by sending to ASUS. Using the EasyFlash utility, accessed from your current BIOS, with the BIOS file on a flash drive formatted to FAT32 will offer the greatest chance of success. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/174395-bios-update-guide-asus-notebooks.html for all your BIOS flashing needs...
