how quiet are your fans on G75?

how quiet should the fans be on idle?

i ask because i just got a G75 and it's simply AWESOME in every way except there's a clear, sharp, "musical" humming tone from the fans all the time. one minute soft (CPU fan on, always), another minute loud (GPU fan also turns on, every minute). and it's driving me silly lol...can't read, write, think. i'm writing this on an old (quieter) lappy.
possibly unrelated, but there's also a small metal thing rolling around inside (more to the left/CPU side). something loose?

temps seem ok according to hwinfo64:
Idle: CPU 37 C, 2000 rpm constantly / GPU 37 C, cycling between off and 2000 rpm
Heavy load: CPU 68 C, 3000 rpm constantly / GPU 55 C, 2600 rpm constantly

fan filters were ok. rotating the laptop didn't help. didn't find any drivers/BIOS that turns fan off while idle. i don't know what else to try.
so i'm wondering is this normal? what do your laptops sound like? do people have silent fans? what's the noise distribution among ASUS users? (because i thought ASUS was famous for its quietness.) or does everyone have a little meditating guy under the keyboard humming? please help! thanks

Let's not flame please! 🙂 It is possible--and very likely--that people have different definitions of quiet. I generally call a lot of things quiet, but then again, that is me. Others I know differ on this. Let's just keep things civil.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Saying the fans are whisper quite on my G75 is a understatement, because a whisper is much louder!
The only time I hear much from them are in gaming, video conversion, or any process that's video intensive!

well it's great to hear that most people actually got ninja fans. guess a few of us just got unlucky with defect/damage. it happens...

soo anyone got tips for loud fans? like i said i checked temps, filters, drivers, BIOS. didn't notice anything wrong. any idea? or is this a trip back to the workshop (also for that loose part i hear rolling around)

Ive had two g75vw, first one had a faulty keyboard so i changed for a new one, both have same sound on fans, and none were "whisper queit" so no its not defective, just people have different opinions on what "queit" means.. so its not defect.

well they are quiet. If you ever heard fans on an Alienware, well these are almost ninja quiet compared to them.

there is no point comparing to other gaming laptops, we are not trying to satisfy ourselves ~ oh nice, alienwere is louder ~ ....

Asus g75 is not a quiet laptop on Idle, if you are always on quiet environment, you will hear that voice all the time, i have same problem, your old notebook does not make this much sound because its system is not as sophisticated. If your pc is at 40C at idle, your laptop has no problem.

I haven't read every post but, seeing as none of the reply's on the first page have mentioned it, the metal thing rolling around inside is most likely the fan filter.

that was my 1st guess too. so i removed the filters and it's still rolling around inside (and humming). when i put filters back in i noticed there are some projections on the removable panels that keep filters securely in place. so maybe it's a ball bearing or screw.

when you guys say "whisper quiet" do you mean just the sound of air blowing, or also a musical-ish humming tone? cause this G75's air blowing is definitely unnoticeable but there's also a distinctly different hum noise. just wondering if the hum is normal for everyone.
