How much damage can the G75 take?

Ok so i am an avid gamer who travels alot.. Im constantly on the move due to work and family. Because of all the movement and stuff i was wondering how much can the G75 really take? I mean i have had an alienware before and that took a hell of a lot of damage for about 4 years lol and all that is broken is the usb port, everything else seems to work just fine.

However with my G75 i have people and kids sometimes having a look at it and it sometimes gets a little knock here and there but rarely still ( i try and keep people away from my laptop by covering it with the rog cover lol so that no1 can see what it is :p) and sometimes the table i keep it on gets a nice knock with some of my tall friends by mistake :s so im just curious weather these kind of things can damage it severely or no? Ofcorse i understand there are many implications on how bad it would get damaged so i just want your guys opinion on how good/long lasting the build quality is..? and also what may be the most delicate/susceptible parts to watch for..

Thanks

Build quality on these machines is excellent, the screens are well made, you can grab them by a corner and almost no flexing as you adjust the lid angle. I wouldn't consider them as rugged as an old-style (real IBM) Thinkpad, but otherwise, they are excellent machines. Any wonder why so many college students who game own them? They are the best built, most reliable gaming machines on the market today - at a reasonable price of course!

i havent really thought about it, i have accidental damage coverage on mine, so its actually in my best interest to damage it 😄 just be carefull w/ it, if you are thinking its going to get damaged, it might be in your best interest to shell out the extra $150 or so for accidental damage.

i used to work at micro center as a tech and by far the number one damage that happens to laptops is when some dummy slams the screen down like people do in TV and movies, and it ends up with a rorschach pattern where the screen used to be. So definitely dont do that and dont toss it around, just remember that its a computer, so treat it like one.

What i can say is that your alienware is probably by far more durable than the G75, especially w/ the titanium casing on those. Also, the rubberized paint on the G75 doesnt mean it can bounce 😛 as far as kids go, probably best to keep them away.... you know, sticky fingers and crumbs and spilling things and all.

The build quality is pretty decent on the G75 for the price. It is of course all plastic construction and would probably not survive as much as an Alienware (I too upgraded from a M17x to the G75.) But, for the price/performance ratio, I figure I only need to get two years out of this machine where the Alienware, I got four. But this machine is half the price so it's all good.

I bet it won't do to well if you run it over with an SUV ...

Hahaha! 🙂 Good one...don't think that Alienware would survive either, honestly. 🙂

Im sure the m18x would survive because that things shell is a beast,

but atleast in my expirience it would have massive hardware failure for just taking it out of the box it was shipped in -_-

have had bad experience with dell laptops, desktops are great by them but not their laptops.

Not that I know of anyone from work who has ever done that to a work laptop ... cough cough ... accidentally of course ... cough cough ...

You??? You should get one of those 1980s "laptops". You could drive trucks over those... They won't break even if you try to. 🙂
