How is the G75VX so far?

I've always wanted the Asus G-series notebook. Wanted the G53 back then but could not afford it. Then same goes for the G74 and same for the G75vw. Now, the G75VX has come out.

I checked out the specs for the G75VX and the only noticeable things are (base configuration) Win 8, i7 3630qm, and the GTX 670MX.

Things that interest me are the cpu and gpu compared to older G75 as they are a better. The CPU is slightly clocked faster and the GPU has similar or better performance to the previous 670m but runs much cooler now that it's built on a kepler.

Things holding me back from purchasing it currently is GPU problems I've read on the forums. One thing I keep reading about is driver issues with the Asus custom mod GTX 670MX. Will not having the latest driver be a problem for running certain games or programs such as 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, and the Adobe CS6 (ones that use the gpu to render)?

If driver is not needed then I'm cool with it.

Are there any problems with the G75VX that should be addressed other than mentioned?

Does it still have that audio bug which came with the previous G75VW models? Did the speakers improved? How is the cooling system now with the GPU compared to previous G75VW models? Is the keyboard better? etc? Please inform!

Currently Tigerdirect (place I'm going to purchase it) has the G75VX on sale for $1399.99 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7708024&CatId=3998

Doesn't look like you're getting 750GB HDD/SSD .. Just the normal mechanical HDD in that model

So what you think of the Asus G75VX? Is it good? Does it still have those problems like audio bug and driver issues like the G75Vw?

This machine is just pure awesomeness 🙂

But as you might be able to tell, I went with a model that had the 750GB HDD/SSD not that there is anything bad to say about the mechanical HDD - It's just a bit slower.

You could always get SSD later on and run your OS on that instead. But it's certainly worth the money 🙂

By all means, I'm not a elitesjerk guy who knows tons of coding and all that, but there are plenty of good guides out there, to how you can OC your GPU and get a bit more out of it.

That's what I plan to do 😄

Yea I plan on adding a SSD to it since there's an available empty hdd bay. So you don't have problems with drivers like the graphic card or the audio such as the subwoofer playing while your headphone is plugged in? What about the sound of the speaker?

Got mine today, haven't had the time to do a lot of things with it yet - However everything seems fine to me.
You can't prevent that there will be some products that is either broken or just not working properly like they should.

It suck balls when it doesn't.. But then again, it's electronics.. So you can't have that high demands.

I'd say go for it! 🙂

I would go with this SSD >>
Samsung 840 Pro Series

This model been rated up on top, has really good benchmarks!

The sound problems still unfortunately exist, don't know why they didn't upgrade!
But just use a good headphone set, or extenal speackers.
But on the plus side there's the GTX 670MX, A very good plus side IMHO!!!!

Good luck!!!

Btw, what is the lifespan of the SSD compared to HDD?

Well the one I have (Intel 520 Series) has a 5 year warranty, that there alone says a lot.

Now windows 8, uses "Drive optimization" something like the old "Disk Defragmentation" (but better) that's on W7 and later versions.
Here's a post on

Save your money, my Asus G75VX-TS72 is the absolute worst laptop I have ever owned. It is much slower than my old Dell that only had 8 GB of RAM instead of 16. Two USB Ports don't work on delivery and the other two are questionable. ASUS will not repair unless I ship the unit back in a NEW box and they couldn't promise I would get the same computer back with my settings and configurations. I am now getting I/O disk errors because sections are not being configured for use that have deleted files, and other curious problems. Sound only comes out of one corner of the laptop... the Dell and the old Toshiba had excellent sound, this laptop is only worth 1/3 of what I paid. ASUS has 0 customer service and could care less about their customers. I will never purchase another ASUS anything and will encourage all others to do likewise.
