Hello so a week ago I bought asus g751jy with 980m and 4860hq. Everything is perfect except for the temperatures of the Cpu. When idling it is around 40-50 but when playing a game for example BF4 the temperature of the cpu goes to like 90-96 constant which makes me worried and I have no idea what to do. Please tell me what is th problem is it hardware or software or is it normal for that cpu. How do you guys deal with that problem ?

Is the back of the laptop obstructed in any way? When you're playing games, can you hear the fan get loud?

I just stress tested my G751JY for about 45 minutes using a video converter program to convert 4 movies at once. My CPU utilization was 100% for 45 minutes straight and I peaked at 73C...it dropped down to 52C within a minute after the conversions completed successfully and I never hit Thermal throttling. I also have my CPU overclocked with max multipliers and max wattage. (I never adjusted voltage however)

So if you're getting that high, I'd want to make sure the fans are free and clear to do their jobs, that the fans are actually turning on at temperature and if that's all true...I wonder if you may have a poor paste job between the CPU and the heatsink.

Hey guys, I am new owner of G751JY as well but also the unlucky one since I am having the throttling issues as few others posted on forums there. So far games that dont stress CPU that much are fine also the ones which are capped at 75vsync (WoW - CPU at 77°C after 3hours, Skyrim - 75fps cap CPU at 81°C max) but main problem are games that dont hit that cap on ultra and use 100% of CPU/GPU almost all the time (Far Cry 3 - 70fps - 94°C CPU).
As far as I read, the only half-way solution at the moment is undervolting the CPU and reducing the multipliers when 3 or 4 cores are active right ?
Anyway no idea why they made the fan working at 3100RPM max when just rising this to 3400RPM would fix the issue in my opinion, since the temps are just slowly rising because of acumulating the hot air inside.
Also my iddle CPU temps are fine 32 - 40°C , it is just maximum load that causes these issues. Also GPU temps are fine as well - 78°C is the highest I have seen yet.
