Horizontal lines/choppyness

Hello i am very new to forums,
i just got my G75vw-TS72 and when playing WoW, watching youtube, watching netflix i get horizontal lines/choppyness. i am not 100% sure how to describe it but it looks like parts don't' load as fast and it is about 1/8 of a inch off in sections due to slow loads. could that be a video card issue, monitor issue? i just want my new laptop to look great playing wow and D3.
someone please get back to me or look into this.

i watched http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?14276-Asus-G75-Video-Review.&highlight=video and in the WoW vid he made, you can kind of see the issue.

thanks,
kabuke

You need to downgrade to driver 285.79.

I have a G74 so I don't know if it will work on the G75, but it's worth a try.

Here is a tip. Install the latest driver with all the components. Next, install driver 285.79. But you need to install just the driver, meaning you need to select custom and unselect everything, except the driver (i think you can't perform any actions on it -it's greyed out- , but just in case). Don't perform a "clean install", as it's not needed.

Now for those of you guys that have the flickering problem (some LCD panels have that problem), here is my post. I found out what was the problem and solved it. It's pretty safe and non-intrusive.

yay someone else has exactly what i have, i am starting to ignore it some, but i would love it could get fixed.

how do i find out if i have drivers 285.79 or not, the only thing i can find is things like "
Version V8.17.12.9644", also i tried that fix in the link you gave and it didn't solve my issue 😞

Open the Nvidia control panel and hit the "Home" button. There it should show you the driver. version.

To enter the control panel, right click anywhere on the desktop and select Nvidia Control panel. I will add a photo in a bit.

Also, a great idea is to first reinstall the latest drivers: http://www.geforce.com/drivers
Make sure to put in your 6XX M driver, not the normal number, as that's for desktops, not laptops.

Here is the link for the legacy drivers (old one that I wrote about): http://www.geforce.com/drivers/beta-legacy.

Woah! I just searched. You have no drivers for the 670M 😐 .... That's why you can't see anything. I wonder why they didn't release the drivers if the laptop is already for sale

Take the latest driver and see if it works. It's 301.42
Here is the link : http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/301.42/301.42-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql....

It just crossed my mind. The problem must be driver related. Because the video-card has no proper drivers, it's used like a low-class one.
1. Can you play any games? If yes, with what settings (also, what game)
2. Did you install the driver from the CD that came with the laptop, or downloaded them from somewhere?
If you let Windows Update install the drivers, install the ones from the CD or from the link I gave you.

(I'd give almost anything to test out that little baby!)

i play world of warcraft and diablo 3 both at max setting and they run amazing with only 5mg dsl (besided the tearing when things move fast that is). the drivers i have came with it and the 2 updates i have gotten were from https://vip.asus.com/login.aspx this is where i log in now that i registered my laptop. i will try out the driver link you put up and also thank you for trying to help me

i downloaded that driver and tried installing it and all i get is "NVIDIA Installer cannot continue. The graphics driver could not find a compatible graphics hardware" that is what happens when i hit setup to try and install it

Just posting to say that I'm having this horizontal line issue also. This is in addition to the sub woofer issue and the lag spike issue.

I have the G75VW-AS71 (amazon.com variation)

The http://www.geforce.com/drivers website says "GeForce GTX 660M - A driver cannot be found for this device." In the drop down box, there's no option to select 660M. I guess the laptops shipped before the drivers were ready?

are you just having the horizontal lines across the screen when dark (perfect same size lines?) cause there are fixes that people have found that i thin work with the g75vw, i just don't see them often enough to care, but the tearing is annoying

I don't really know how to describe the horizontal line problem. It's most obvious when playing games ... when the scenery is changing quickly. Like when scrolling the screen. As the screen is trying to update (redraw), there's a horizontal line ... almost like a flicker effect. It's relatively subtle, but it obviously shouldn't be there.
