Here it is: G751JT and G771JM

This is a comparison between the two models.

G751JT is the "Gamer" version which holds 970m - Not as powerfull as the 980m tho (sources say about 20% better)

G771 is the "Media" version which is similar to the G751JT - However, it doesn't come with the same build (dual fans etc.)

Personally I'm looking to buy a new one - The G75VX has served me well.. But time has come for something new!
Sadly I haven't been able to get a hold of a pricetag on the version which holds the 980m - So atm. I have my mind set on the G751JT model.

Without having any REAL benchmarks to rely on, this still looks promising!

Asus, please tell me your gonna be shipping laptop versions later on that have 6/8GB Vram. Many upcoming games such as The New Order, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, The Evil Within are at 4gb and over (SoM uses 6gb with ultra.) Otherwise I'm gonna have to go buy a MSI brand one for the 8gb 980m and I'm sure you don't want that. 😞

mihaimoga I bought a J750JZ also week ago. I know that feeling bro.

Not getting exited about new Gseries. Iam from Czech Republic so it takes 5 to 12 months for one of these arrive here on a market :-D. G75 was a record holder with 12months then it sold out in a week and wasn avalible for another 3 months 😄

According to notebookcheck:
3DM 11 - GTX780M : max 8000 pcs
3DM 11 - GTX880M : max 9200 pcs
3DM 11 - GTX980M : max 11800 pcs

G751 Design is a blast! Love it. The GTX980M seems to be more than just incremental upgrade.

Svift, with XTU and Asus Tweak for Graphics cards, my G750JH 780m got a P8591 on Nvidia 337.50, probably time to see if the newer Nvidia drivers make it higher 🙂

The JZ 880m is an overclocked 780m, it's too bad Asus didn't give us 780m owners a BIOS/vBIOS update to benefit from the 880m tuning. Looks like about 7% faster than a 780m - probably 2-5 fps difference in games @ 60 fps.

The 751JY 980m looks like it will be 28% faster than an 880m, or 5-12 fps difference in games @ 60 fps. If you have a game on the edge of playability it might help.

The 980m is a better upgrade than we have seen in a while. Let's hope it tests out in the hands of users at the same rate, and makes a usuable improvement in games too.

Oh yeah, then there is the Optiums thing... I hope Asus makes a break from the G750JM/JS/JZ and provides a direct Nvidia connection to the screen / monitors instead of going through the iGPU in the Intel CPU.

According to some reports we should see some G751JT/JY soon, I hope that is true too 🙂

It destroys everything! 😄

Sagi, doing the math on the best speed improvement there, BF4, it is 28% faster.

I hope it runs that fast in the G751JY - lets see how it all comes together 🙂

Some of those numbers look low for the 880m. Fire Strike and Cloud Gate in particular. My results with a 780m are better:

Fire Strike - 5928 vs 5523 for the 880m in that article...

Cloud Gate - 19780 vs 18731 for the 880m in that article...

Such charts are often favorable of the new device over the older ones.

I'm sure the numbers will go up once we see the G751JY in action. Never the less, I would be sad if I had just bought a G750JZ .. Price is around the same - And the JT model will most likely outperform it as well (which is even cheaper).

Overall the specs of the G751JY looks amazing.. Only downside is the CPU - Hope it won't bottleneck like some of the previous models does.

Sagi, if I had just bought a JZ, or any of the other G750's I would be very happy, I wouldn't be looking at what doesn't exist yet, I would be enjoying what I have 🙂

Besides, the 980m only has 4GB of Vram, and many 880m hasve 8GB - the JS-6GB also has more VRAM than the 980m, so for many future games with demands for textures over 4GB the JZ/JS-6GB will be able to play them better than the JY. The older model isn't always immediately without advantage over the newest.

And, the JT only has 3GB of VRAM, so the JH/JZ/JS-6GB will again hold more textures in their video cards than the JT. The JT is supposed to have the same GPU performance as the JH/JZ, but without as much VRAM as the JH/JZ.

These G751JY/JT's are great machines, but they aren't obsoleting any G750 - all can still play the same games they could before new models come out. 😉

That's not entirely true tho - It's only some countries where you can buy the 6gb and 8gb models. Besides, what I was refering to; Was the 2 Guys who bought their laptop within the past 2 weeks. A bit of research and you would have known that something was just around the corner.

And furture games might need more VRAM, but the 900 series will still be able to handle the games better - Even with less VRAM.

Sagi, the point is to be happy with what you have, and don't disparage those that have an older model, as that will be you some day as well.

Enjoy whatever you have, whatever you get, and help others enjoy their ROG laptop too 🙂

They asked if they should return it or not - I'm just giving them a honest answer that's pretty much all there is to it.
