I own the same laptop as you do, and I will warn you that it is a bear to take apart. If the issue can be resolved near the mousepad, then the disassembly process won't be too bad. You simply need to use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the keyboard - gently release the clips along the top, and then remove the few screws and move the slider that hold the wrist-rest in place. If the cable is visible there, you can
gently re-seat it. It is possible - and likely, that the cable is on the underside of the motherboard, in which case it is a lot more complex to disassemble. You will need to carefully remove quite a number of screws to get the backplate off.
