Having trouble with my monitors and HDMI splitter, NEED HELP with G74

so the other day i went and bought an ASUS MX279 monitor so i can run it with my I-Inc iH282 monitor. I bought an HDMI splitter but for some reason i can only operate one larger monitor at a time even with the splitter i did everything the instructions said and researched but still no luck. Im running an ASUS G74 with a NVIDEA 560m and was told i could support the 2 monitors and just turn the laptop screen off. I desperately need help cause i forked out a lot for this editing setup only for it to not work!!

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with HDMI splitters, so you may want to continue looking into this with others.

If you can't get it to work, you may already know the G74 also has an analog VGA port (which you may be hoping to avoid using?) that you can use instead with the HDMI port if necessary?

Don't have a whole lot of experience with USB to external monitor connections either, but that may be another option you want to look into and if it make sense even use it as part of a docking station?

Sorry I don't know more about them, but just wanted to mention more ideas that you may or may not want to look into.

its much appreciated albert im just bummed that BestBuy sold me a product they told me would be the solution which was to buy a $70 rocketfish 1-2 HDMI splitter

Hey. I'm currently running an I-Inc iF251H in conjunction with a Dell monitor and the laptop monitor. The way I'm doing this is running the VGA output to the Dell and I have a Mygica Ushow adapter connecting the HDMI to the I-Inc via USB (USB goes into Ushow, Ushow connects to the HDMI). I remember I had to install some software for it to work, but it does work like a charm. You may have to install something for the splitter. I'm inexperienced with an actual splitter, but if ABSOLUTELY nothing else, I do know that you can work with VGA with almost no difference (Assuming you're concerned about color-correction).
