Well i was wondering if its "Possible" to replace a none 3d screen with the 120hz 3d one. From my understanding it should be, Asus are being very quite on the subject which leads me to believe that it is, and that they dont want people buying the cheaper none 3d screen versions and just refitting them with a 3d one. What do you think?

Check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/627197-asus-g74sx-xr1-screen-replacement....

It indicates the 3D displays are not compatible with non-3D motherboards.

Here's a more definitive post w/pictures: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?5536-Asus-G74-screen-flicker-(dark-backgrounds-and-low-brig...

As Drew pointed out, the motherboards are not compatible, since they have different connectors.

You should be able to output to an external 3D-capable display.

Be aware that http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?12080-Asus-G74SX-gt-External-Monitor-3D indicates the external monitor MUST be a 3D-capable HDTV to use a refresh rate of 120 hz. The G74SX HDMI connection only supports refesth rates up to 60 hz.
