GTX 660m help.

So I use MSI Afterburner, not to overclock but for the OSD. But I noticed a peculiar thing.

So according to notebook check the GTX 660m should run the following speeds.

Core Speed 835 MHz
Shader Speed 835 MHz
Memory Speed 2000 MHz

According to MSI afterburner, this is all good and correct but my memory speed maxes out at 2499 which is 500MHz above what the GPU is supposed to run? Also any of you guys who have some type of GPU monitor installed what does you memory speed max at?

Thanks in advance.

I have mine Core @ 1085, Memory @ 2800 using EVGA Precision X. Certain games will only use so much. With EVGA Precision X you can not only use an OSD, but you can also lock the GPU at max clocks. You don't have to OC to do this. You can lock them at whatever you want.

Your memory speed should be 2500 mhz though. That is stock. Not sure what told you 2000.

Cool cool. Just threw me for a loop when i saw that. lol Glad to know I didn't accidently OC it. Thanks. 🙂

Also I got the 2000 number here....

Yeah maybe Asus boosts it up a bit at the factory. You can always down clock it to 2000 mhz if it bothers you. 😛

How do you lock the clocks in precision? I have used it before but didn't know about this feature, that would be sweet!

Yeah what's interesting is on the G55 660M the memory clock is 2500mhz stock, which is higher than the Nvidia reference spec.

BTW I can now run Hawken and Dead Space 3 full stable core 1085mhz (could be 1200mhz but latest drivers don't allow it), mem 3000mhz. Using NVInspector to lock clocks.
