BigDRim, the serial number should have set it right. Usually entering the serial number causes all the blanks to fill in correctly...

You can send a followup email as a Technical Inquiry, to let Asus know - ask them to correctly classify your serial number as a G751JY.

Please let us know what Asus says 🙂

They fix it, thanks!

Got my G751JY, proud to say this is my first ASUS and also proud to join the helpful Republic of Gamers. I received the G751JY model from Newegg about 2 days ago and some of the keys on my keyboard were not working. I played around with it to try to fix it (excluding opening anything just in case it voids my warranty.) Tried factory reset, rebooting, uninstalling driver/installing/then reboot, updating drivers. The only time some of the keys started working was when I took out the AC adapter that connects to the laptop itself so I'm guessing it's a hardware problem. Already RMA'd it, but unfortunately I won't see the likes of it for another 10 days or so since I'll have to send it from Maryland back to California. When it gets back I'll post my benchmarks as well as temps for some really populated games in different areas.

Hello. I can not decide which video card to choose. 970 m or 980 m. I'm afraid that if I choose 970 m not enough. Many doubting which video card to choose. GTX 970 m or GTX 980m. Overall I'm not a hard gamer, I just want to enjoy a quality game. But on the other hand want to have resources to play at least 2-3 years. Thank you. And if you choose 970 meters if I can play The Witcher Wild Hunt a maximum resolution. I apologize if I posted in the wrong section.

If you have the money then I would go for the Gtx980M as it is has a little bit more juice and it is more future proof due to the 4GB memory. If you are looking for best bang for the buck then the Gtx970M stands better at price/value. If you want more in-depth advice you could also tell us what is your budget and what do you plan to do with the laptop on the future.

If you need fluent gaming, the 980m is the most future-proof choice.
However, I don't think anyone, myself included, which have the 970m, could complain. This card is even more powerful than the 880M, which was supposed to be the best last year 🙂

Thank you for your answers. I am fully aware that 980 is better than 970. I do not want to give each year more than $ 2,000 for a new laptop. This is the biggest reason why I embarrass my choice. I have my doubts that if I take g751 and 970 video card that I can enjoy a quality game at least 2-3 years. If my fears were true it would have to wait a little longer to collect money for a laptop with 980 video card. In the future will use the laptop to play games. Now wait to come The Witcher Wild Hunt. Otherwise, for now I play Diablo 3 and World of tanks.I love playing games like Crysis and Battlefield.
I just read this article - http://www.pcmarket.com.au/blog/asus-rog-g751jy-really-1300-better-asus-rog-g751jt.
What really makes me question myself really 30% more power is worth the money. I think that tend towards ASUS g751jt

For this games, which I also play, you'll have no problems as long as you don't absolutely want max shadows and shaders (these are the performance killers).

I run all games on V-sync and have not had problems with any of them on my JT, at 1920x1080 res 🙂 They run beautifully.

And I want just that, but for at least 2-3 years. I do not want the next year to buy a new laptop

No one knows exactly how demanding next-gen games will be, so if you are worried about that, the 980m is your best bet for the next 2-3 years.
