I have a question (sorry if it has already been answered) : do the G751 series also have OPTIMUS ?????

also, how is the IPS screen ? I read several times that these screens have sometimes an "image retention" (or ghost) effect.
like : when you had a static image for a long time on screen, and then change to an uniform background, you see for a limited time a "ghost image" of the previous image.

There is no optimus which I actually prefer as there are a lot less problem and the battery life is just fine especially since the 9xx series gpus are very power efficient. The IPS display is absolutely fantastic and blows away every other laptop I have not experienced any ghosting or image retention on the screen what so ever.

Which model did you get ? 🙂

It's great to hear that someone got a fully functional working G751 out of the box - There is still hope then!

My first one the video card went bottoms up and this one has ****ty speakers that make that vibrating sound which makes them about useless although I moved out of my country for a year so I am stuck with crappy, broken speakers. I hope the GPU does't go on this one as well. Other than that the thing is a beast and I love it. I have the G751JY.

Hello, i have had this problem with my laptop . I sent to RMA. It was display fault.

Just got mine today and after about 3rd in of installing programs etc the screen flickered n then I got a green gaze and ghosting effect. I thought it was the graphics driver so u installed that along with all the other graphics driver stuff, rebooted and no effect. I don't know whether this I a hardware problem or something else likey a setting that I've missed. also tried windows display settings but nothing seems to help. Any ideas? how do I reset the machine to factory settings

See tagline, my G751JY definitely has the 256G M.2 SSD and for those that don't have one let me tell you it makes such a difference to load times. As far as I am aware this is the top of the line in the ASUS range - it was a replacement for my G75VX which was stolen.

Even though my laptop was taken has a lot of data on it that ill never get back - it's not like the thief will have anything but a millstone around his neck, it was shutdown at the time and the system was fully password protected and locked down through the razoo so its not like they'll manage to sell it, I am still hoping that they will get caught because then not only have I got my replacement I can grab my data too.

But I am SOOOO HAPPY with this beast its slick, incredibly fast and so quiet .

My only change would be for the keyboard to be a white backlight with the WASD keys in red.
I truly believe that there are people on this planet who should voluntarily remove them selves from the gene pool.

Got my G751 JY *non g-sync asus pls* a couple of days ago with the 980M,4720HQ and 16 GB RAM + 128GB SSD and 1 TB HDD and here's my impressions.
So far I have played these games:
Dota 2 - 100+FPS nothing to report there.
League of legends - 200+ I have it locked on 144.
Mortal Kombat X - 60 FPS during fights but weird drops from time to time for a split second *not sure if game not optimised or running out of VRAM*
NBA 2K15 -120 in game 70-120 during cut scenes or while on bench.
Dirt Rally - Maxed out minimum on the benchmark was 56 but it consistently runs on 60+
Temperatures are good I think. After 1 hour of MK 10 CPU was 84C and GPU was 74.(Room temperature was around 28C).
Running windows 10 on it no problems with that I installed it right away and used a mix of win 8.1 and win 10 drivers.
Problems:
1.NVIDIA Shadowplay doesn't use my webcam no matter how I set it up.
2.A slight crackle if my speakers have been quiet and I change volume or start playing music.( not that bad)
I need to test more with high demanding games like GTA and Shadow of mordor but it's exceeding my expectations so far.
And finally three questions:
I have the screen set up at 75hz could that hurt it?
Can I and should I overclock the 980m,is it worth the temperatures and does it boost performance noticably?
Can I change the ROG Game Center button to something useful cause I don't even have it installed?

no idea about shadowplay i dont know anyone at the office that uses it but the speaker crackle was fixed with updated audio drivers for most people and you can find the info in this sticky
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?57462-G751-Imbalanced-Sound-Problem-(internal-speakers-onl...
the screen is fine at 75 we have people in the office with the older 860m g751s that have been running at 75 since release without a problem and they are using it way more then most users.
Dont bother with an overclock the boost is negligable but you do have the thermal overhead if you want to play with it.

ASUS ROG JT Score P11635 :

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/10244565

Overclocked core clock + Memory clock to 1400 MHZ.

51465

Screen Running at 100HZ (So Far So Good! and no tearing)
Don't ask me why I did it because I couldn't get GTX980M Because only the JT Version was available where I live. and I really wanted the IPS Screen with OC I get the same performance as 980m gpu runs 45-47 on idle with load depending on the game some times 75-80 other time 80-85 - tested it for a week no problem no shutdowns no bsod and no arficats.

Would love to overclock the CPU But I don't feel that its safe and I think it will sound like an overkill for no thing. I would at least need to see more people doing it before I decide.
