G75VX Fan Issue (Strange sound)

Hello all,

I've been a long time lurker around the forums and have tried to find if anyone else has something similar to my issue.

I purchased my ASUS G75VX laptop around the beginning of the year and I have to say I am absolutely in love with it. I have no issues with it except it seems the left side fan (when facing the laptop) emits a strange noise when idle (I imagine it does this while gaming, but I never hear it). I've looked at the fan multiple times to see if the blades were rubbing against anything, but that proved useless. The laptop works fine, I have no performance issues and using programs like HWiNFO64 show my temperatures to be seemingly normal (and same with the blades RPMS). Sometime it seems the noise will tone itself down and I barely hear it (normally after just watching a video) and when I'm on Facebook, with nothing else going on I seem to notice it a lot more.

This was the best I was able to record the noise. It was taken with my iPhone from about 2-3 inches behind the laptop exhaust grill.

This is my first ASUS brand item, and I am just curious if this is normal.

Thank you for your time, :]

well firstly all fans make a noice, usualy its the air you can hear.
But from your recording it does sound strange, like a rattling noice, it could be that the bearing in the fan is making this noice. Try booting p a game but keep the audio off, does it get louder or anything?

I just tried, and I can't hear it as well as I can when the laptop is idle. It appears quiet, but it is definitely a constant sound. It doesn't get much louder.

In fact I can hear it more while typing this than I could while having a game booted up.

I checked my laptops temperatures and the fans RPMs everything seems normal (40ish degrees for the temp and 2002 RPMS for the fan).

Yeah, my laptop started to do that same noise, just with weaker "tick" spinning sound. I think it's normal, some times I hear it on idle. some times I don't but the days where I do its after I play a game for a long period of time
