I am having a really weird issue right now, I've never experienced anything like this before, I'm running Windows 10 on my G75VX, I just did the install last week and it's all acting very weird, I'm not sure what to do.
The laptop originally came with a 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, I removed both drives and replaced with two 512gb Samsung Evo 850 SSD's in Raid 0, had everything set up and working just fine, I recently just bought a 1tb ssd to replaced the two 512's in raid 0, removed the two raid drives after unraid so the bios and everything was all back to normal, I restored bios settings to factory defaults and then disabled secure boot so I could boot my windows installer off USB, did a fresh UEFI install of windows 10, again, third time now on this laptop and everything is fine, but just recently, I noticed this install doesn't have a boot logo on start up, I also noticed it would randomly freeze up while transferring raw 4k video as that's primarily what I use this laptop for.
My thinking was maybe this was something kind of like how on an unlocked Nexus Phone or Tablet it will display an unlock icon on boot, maybe Asus did the same, no boot logo for no secure boot enabled device or something so I figured I would turn it back on, only that I can't get into the BIOS which I thought was very weird, so I googled it quickly, found out the UEFI way of booting to BIOS, tried that (settings, update & security, recovery, advanced start up, troubleshoot..) but that's where it ended for me, when it's suppose to reboot into that blue uefi screen with options, it took like 10 minutes for the screen to show up, move the mouse over to troubleshoot, clicked once (not double click) and the display goes black and about 10 minutes later, a cursor appears, but nothing else happened after that.
Now this is where I'm thinking, okay, screw this drive, it must be faulty, I'll just pull the drive and go into BIOS without a drive installed, except when I boot the laptop with no drive at all, nothing happens, the keyboard lights up, goes out, screen stays off the entire time, no back light even, I put the SSD back in, booted right up to the login screen in only a few seconds, everything is working for daily use but I can't work from this laptop because of it's issue freezing with raw 4k file transfer, I have no idea what's wrong with this but it doesn't seem to have a BIOS anymore, however everything is still working fine other then the file transfer thing, like, I can't wrap my head around this, I've never experienced anything like this before.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all, sending to Asus for repair is not a suggestion, I live in Canada and Canada Post is on strike so shipping with UPS or FedEx both require making an account and it cost about twice as much for shipping, plus the repair cost, I'll just buy another laptop before I send it back to them for repair.
I'm thinking I would download the BIOS flashing utility off of the Asus site, latest 206, flash that, but I figured I would ask if anyone knows if this will be a bad thing to do in the state it's in seeing as right now it "works" but if the actual bios chip is faulty, maybe flashing a new bios to it, might corrupt what's already there and working, so I don't know what to do at this point.
Any help is really appreciated, I need this for work so it's kind of a big deal I get this working fully as soon as I can.
