G75VX - Black Post on Notebook LCD - ext monitor works fine

Strange issue on my G75VX.
My notebook's monitor is black (nothing) during POST however it then shows the Windows OS no problem.
The External HDMI port displays POST just fine on external monitors.
In attempt to fix the black POST, I reflashed back to the latest official G75VX BIOS with WinFlash successfully - but the monitor issue persists.

Obviously the bios (and possibly monitor) firmware is defaulting to the external output HDMI instead of the notebook's official LCD.
This doesn't appear to be a hardware issue with the monitor as it works 100% in windows for months now.

Steps I've already tried WITHOUT resolution:
- pressing the Monitor function buttons during POST - FN+F8 and also FN+F7
- resetting BIOS to default optimized settings (only has optimized).
- removing all connected accessories and battery then holding power for over 5 mins.
- taking apart the system and unplugging the CMOS battery for over 5 mins.
- copying the latest bios file to the C: root disk drive (C:) and holding various repair/reflash BIOS buttons - no flash screen begins... a lot of mixed info on this!
- reflashed latest BIOS from WinFlash successfully, but still didn't resolve the monitor issue!
- connecting and disconnected the HDMI monitor several times during POST to humor the BIOS to revert back to it's own damn monitor LOL.

I think I need to reflash the BIOS outside of OS from here, what's the exact way to do this for the G75VX that works?
Also, maybe there's still a setting on the keyboard or BIOS I'm missing to easily fix this? (though a BIOS reflash and reset should reset the monitor to 100% default, yes?)

Have you tried connecting the external monitor, going into Resolution Settings, setting the Ext Monitor as primary, then setting laptop screen back to primary?

There might be a primary toggle in the NVidia settings.

Also, try deleting your screen's generic driver if it has one, and reinstall NVidia's one.

Yes, this works great for Windows, but the actual BIOS doesn't appear to have options to fix this issue in Post. For some reason, the Post BIOS settings or internal monitor firmware/graphics firmware is configured to "Ext Monitor" as the primary even after resetting and reflashing the BIOS and firmware resetting hardware (remove battery and hold power for 60 seconds).

Bump...big time. I'm having pretty much the same issue with my G75VX.

It started a couple of weeks ago with something different: the laptop would not boot at all unless I had it hooked up to external monitor. I tried everything, and eventually "fixed" it by updating the BIOS. I used EasyFlash within the BIOS and updated to the latest from Asus support page for the G75VX. Then it booted normally on its own, at least I thought so. Then I noticed I wasn't getting the BIOS splash screen during POST, which was weird because I always remember it. So I tried to access BIOS and nothing. When I hook it up to the TV via HDMI, I get the BIOS splash screen during POST and can access BIOS. Literally the weirdest thing and I just can't figure it out. Very frustrating.

Even when I did the Windows 10 Creators Update, I got nothing on my screen, just a black screen until the update was almost done. Then I reinstalled Windows and had a black screen the whole time. So something's not letting the screen show for some reason.

At the moment, I'm still using the laptop with no issues. I mean, it is annoying that something is technically wrong and I can't figure it out, but since it's useable, I'm trying to deal with it. But I am worried that it could be the start of a bigger issues (GPU, motherboard, etc. failure).

This is the first issue I've ever had with my G75VX and it's a really great laptop, which is why I'm trying to figure out what is causing this issue. I would really like to resolve it. Any ideas or updates from OP?

Edit: This still hasn't solved mine, but it may work for others.

Try this hard reset of the CMOS which should help reset the INITIAL DISPLAY CMOS settings affecting the monitor output on boot. Open the bottom panel of the laptop (for RAM, Disk Drives, Etc), remove the RAM sticks, locate the two sets of soldier points JRST2001 to JRST2002, touch a flat-tip screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, or soldier wire w/ electric tape handle onto each set separately. DO NOT touch JRST2001 & JRST2002 together - they are separate soldier points with a hairthin gap between each if you look carefully.

Remove the battery, leave one RAM chip in, connect the power cable, and hold the jumper bridge connection for 20+ seconds on JST2001 only first. Remove the bridge and attempt to boot. If it's not working, turn the laptop off, and repeat with JRST2002.

These are photos from my G75VX - located JRST2001 and JRST2002 in the lower left of the RAM slots:

Still haven't solved this issue - I'm curious if anyone else has had success?
