Edit: This still hasn't solved mine, but it may work for others.
Try this hard reset of the CMOS which should help reset the INITIAL DISPLAY CMOS settings affecting the monitor output on boot. Open the bottom panel of the laptop (for RAM, Disk Drives, Etc), remove the RAM sticks, locate the two sets of soldier points JRST2001 to JRST2002, touch a flat-tip screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, or soldier wire w/ electric tape handle onto each set separately. DO NOT touch JRST2001 & JRST2002 together - they are separate soldier points with a hairthin gap between each if you look carefully.
Remove the battery, leave one RAM chip in, connect the power cable, and hold the jumper bridge connection for 20+ seconds on JST2001 only first. Remove the bridge and attempt to boot. If it's not working, turn the laptop off, and repeat with JRST2002.

It started a couple of weeks ago with something different: the laptop would not boot at all unless I had it hooked up to external monitor. I tried everything, and eventually "fixed" it by updating the BIOS. I used EasyFlash within the BIOS and updated to the latest from Asus support page for the G75VX. Then it booted normally on its own, at least I thought so. Then I noticed I wasn't getting the BIOS splash screen during POST, which was weird because I always remember it. So I tried to access BIOS and nothing. When I hook it up to the TV via HDMI, I get the BIOS splash screen during POST and can access BIOS. Literally the weirdest thing and I just can't figure it out. Very frustrating.
Even when I did the Windows 10 Creators Update, I got nothing on my screen, just a black screen until the update was almost done. Then I reinstalled Windows and had a black screen the whole time. So something's not letting the screen show for some reason.
At the moment, I'm still using the laptop with no issues. I mean, it is annoying that something is technically wrong and I can't figure it out, but since it's useable, I'm trying to deal with it. But I am worried that it could be the start of a bigger issues (GPU, motherboard, etc. failure).
This is the first issue I've ever had with my G75VX and it's a really great laptop, which is why I'm trying to figure out what is causing this issue. I would really like to resolve it. Any ideas or updates from OP?
