Hello Fellow Rog!
I have a G75VW that I dual boot with Linux & WIn7, but I mainly use Linux.
The other day I was compiling some software in Linux and the temps on the CPU were hitting around 75c and the CPU fan was barely moving air out the back, meaning it didn't really kick into a higher speed and I thought it should. I didn't get why the fan would allow the CPU to run so hot and not kick into a higher speed to start cooling it down.
It ran compiling software with the CPU at 75c for about a minute and the fan never kicked into a higher speed, which seemed odd to me.
Looking back I'm trying to remember the last time it would kick in to a higher speed and I can't recall.
Recently I forgot to plug the ac adaptor back in and the battery ran out, when I plugged it back in and started the computer I noticed the CPU fan was running really fast, and with the laptop running for about a minute, possibly two, it never slowed down, it just kept running fast and the cpu wasn't even hot.
Windows also said the ac adaptor was plugged in but the battery not charging so this was giving me a problem also, so I shut the laptop down, removed the battery and put it back in and restarted the laptop and this time the CPU fan was running slower as normal and the battery finally charging. But this unsual high speed of the CPU fan when first starting the laptop had me worried if something caused the fan or motherboard a problem, and maybe now this is why the fan no longer spins up fast, maybe something crapped out, I'm not sure.
I'm a Geek and a Tech, is there anyway I can test this to make sure the fan or motherboard is working properly in relationship to fan speeds, does Asus have any diagnostic software, or maybe there is some other type of diagnostic software out there I can test the hardware out? I also called Asus support and the Tech said Asus has no idea on when the fan should spin up higher at what Temps, I found this to be a odd reply back from support, just made me feel like these people don't know what they're doing...
Anyone also know what CPU temps we should notice the fan spinning higher, or at it's highest rpms?
THANKS
