G75VW USB ports not working (except one)

Rayearth
Level 7
I had some problems with USB ports after doing a clean Windows 7 installation.
It seams that only 1 port is working, the one with a thunder icon (constantly powered) on the right side of my laptop.
Devices connected to all other ports are recognized by the system and their drivers but they do not function properly or gets disconnected after a while.
I have installed drivers (v1.0.7.248) from Intel's website but this action did not change anything.

Any one else got this problem?

Since you did a clean install of Win7 I would suggest you update all of the drivers specifically the chipset and USB3.0 drivers.

if you had charger plus installed, uninstall it and reboot and see how it goes.

Yea this has been a problem for a few of us. You have the right USB 3. 0 driver installed, so uninstall the ASUS Charger plus from Programs and features reboot twice then reinstall the Asus Charger Plus reboot twice again. Sounds silly but for some reason rebooting twice seems to have worked for some of us. The charger Plus some how seems to effect the power supply to all ports, once set up problem goes away. this last USB 3.0 driver when I installed it a couple of weeks ago I had to do the charger plus routine again. to get working again. Only some of us have had the problem. It took me a few days back in July to get it all sorted out. There are a few threads dealing with it.

I have both drivers installed. Tried to update the chipset driver. The setup goes all the way, at the end it says that everything went ok, but in Device Manager I see the old version...

Can I somehow remove the old version to install the new one properly?

I didn't install ASUS Charger+ software at all. I'll try this solution, but does this software needs to run in the background all the time to make the USB ports work?

to install the new intel chipset driver you need the '-overide -overall' switch (i.e. run the command prompt as administrator; navigate to the folder in which the setup.exe of intel chipset driver is located; then type 'setup.exe -overide -overall'). after that you need to reinstall the rst and usb driver.

Thanks for the tip! The update went ok now.
Still no effect though 😉

what's your current power plan? try adjust the usb settings in your current power plan (disable power management?)

I'm using balanced power plan, my laptop is always connected to power supply.
The "USB selective suspend setting" (or whatever it is called in English) is turned OFF.
