G75VW-TS71: Restore To Factory Default..?!

I bought a used G75VW-TS71 from a pawn shop, I have an Acer, but the backlight burnt out, so I needed a laptop.

Whomsoever had this laptop previously put Win8 Pro (Build 9200) on it, I am thinking that they wiped out the hidden partition for the laptop, I've tried F9 - F12 upon rebooting the system and nothing is coming up.

So, if that is the case of them deleting everything that was on the drive, is there a way I can get the system image directly from ASUS so that I can restore the laptop?

They used to sell a DVD that would accomplish that, you would still need the windows 7 Product Key to activate it. This might be a solution for you https://restore.solutions/en/asusg75vw/ Again you will need the Product key for windows 7 If your notebook came with windows 8 download the one for window 8.1 core its the same as OEM and the embedded 8 key will activate the 8.1 core version. Unless this notebook for some reason came with Single language or Pro these would have been custom models or models sold in a foreign country.

This is the original G75VW-TS71 that came out in June of 2012, so it's a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 key that is on the bottom of the laptop.

EDIT: I should've mentioned in my OP, that I only bought the laptop on Friday of last week.

Yea that what I thought so any window 7 HP SP 1 64 bit disk will do. You will have to edit the ISO to boot UEFI check out this thread for help with that. Most of this tread was for installing 8 but if I remember right there is discussion of clean installing windows 7 UEFI. If not the the window 7 forum has several tutorials on installing window 7 HP SP1 UEFI.

Is that even legal? I haven't had the chance to contact ASUS directly yet to find out if I can buy the system image for the TS71 directly from them [ASUS].

This laptop has BIOS and not UEFI.

Well is was shipped UEFI/GPT, if it is BIOS/MBR someone converted it. And yes both of the links I gave you are perfectly Legal. Your Windows 7 HP product Key should be on the bottom of your notebook. with out that key neither link I gave you will allow Activation. How you get windows 7 installed on your notebook doesn't matter. All that matters is that you have a legal product key. This Link is actually Microsoft download.

Maybe you're confusing the TS71 with a different sub-model of the G75VW that came with UEFI/GPT. Because this one, like my Acer V3-771G both came with BIOS/MBR.

I've tried using the official MS site to get a new Win7 copy -- originally for my Acer, and then around the middle of July for the ASUS -- it refuses my key, just like with the key for my Acer laptop. Because of that, I have to contact Acer to get the image and it'll cost approx. CAD$200...who knows how much it'll cost from ASUS.

Here is the error when using the Win7 key on the laptop:

Well if you can't find a friend with a win 7 disk? or download one? Amazon has some pretty good prices I think you should be able to find a win 7 sp1 64 bit disk Your OEM key will activate it.
