Hello everyone,
Over the past couple of weeks, my 2012 G75VW has been overheating. Shocker right! I would regularly see idle temperatures of 80°C and load temperatures of 100°C, causing system shutdown. A basic virus scan would be intensive enough to cause the system to overheat.
I completed the repair with a screwdriver, thermal paste, compressed air, and at one point a drill... The screws holding the screen were stripped, so I drilled them out. I honestly didn't find this repair difficult, daunting yes, but difficult no.
I also ended up drilling some holes in the bottom cover, just above the fans. This reduced the temperature by a further 5°C
Results:
Before: 80-100°C
After: 47-78°C
This repair put some new life into the old girl and I would recommend any G75 owners still around to do the same.
