G75VW Subwoofer

So uh, I'm not sure what happened exactly since i haven't done anything since the audiofix/bios 223 long time go (which fixed most of my audio problems). But I now randomly only have sound from my subwoofer (underneath).

While testing in HD Vdeck, only the center speaker works, but in the Sound playback devices windows tab they all play but through the woofer. I've already uninstalled every driver remotely related to audio (even everything nvidia) and did a full re install yet the problem persists.

Google resulted in hundreds of issues with the g75 and sound making it fairly hard to figure out my problem. I am a total noob at using windows for stuff like this so I might just be using the wrong settings, but if i change my speaker configuration at all my sound just stops working.

Any1 encountered something similar or has some advice to give?

Thanks in advance

The latest VIA Drivers on Asus Support Download works very well. If these don't solve you issue you may have a defective Subwoofer

Windows 10 Pro

Windows 10 Pro

I am using those drivers, since I got the all common issues when i first bought this laptop, and those drivers fixed it.

As far as defective, I doubt it (unless some wires randomly got crossed) since I only get sound from the sub-woofer. meaning if i test my left speaker my woofer plays it. Is there any sort of hardware issue that could cause this?

you got me then, I guess all you can try is a Clean Install, you could be looking for the corrupting software for a long time. If you have been making Images of your hard drive you could roll back to a time when it was working

I was hoping to avoid losing everything, since I did a rollback to a month ago but the problem persists. The issue with this is that since I used a headset 99% of the time in the last year, I have no idea if it was working a month ago or not.

So it does seem like a full factory settings wipe is my only option, but I'll wait a bit on that (since the problem is avoidable by using a headset/external speakers) and hopefully some1 will find a better solution or test I can do to fix/find the problem.

Side-note; Clintlgm, after reading my reply I could see it being interpreted as somewhat condescending and ungrateful, I apologize for that. I really honestly meant it as a question ( 0 experience with speaker hardware).

I didn't take any offence~ have you tried to completely uninstall the VIA software from Control Panel/Programs and Features. Reboot a generic Windows driver will install. Reboot a couple of times and then install the latest drivers From Asus Site. If that doesn't solve it then some other software on your notebook has to be interfering or shared .dll's have to be corrupted.

Back up your data, you shouldn't lose anything clean installing because you have it backed up!! Also if you have 2 hard drive take out the data disk and leave it out until you have a booting Clean Install then you can put it back in.

If you haven't read this thread do it will assist you in clean installing what ever windows version you like.
