G75VW Matshiita BD-MLT UJ260 suddenly not working

Hi,

Anyone experience this issue with your G75VW ? On Win7 Home Premium here.
Last was managed to burned a DVD data disc using the preinstall Cyberlink Media Suite on 27th Nov 2012.
Few days ago, when i tried to burn another DVD, the drive just gave out some ticking sound and went silent. No media was detected. I tried to play some cd or dvd and none was detected too.
My G75VW is only coming to 3 months old. What a let down.

hi, did you burn before? how is use other burn tool, is it still happen?

I last burned using the preinstalled Cyberlink Media Suite on 27th Nov 2012. Few days ago, when i tried to burn another dvd, the blu-ray drive fail to detect the blank dvd. It also failed to detect any non blank cd or dvd i put it. It just gave out some ticking sound as if it was trying to read the media before went silent. I also tried to boot up with LIVE ubuntu media, but the drive just couldn't detect any media at all. I think the drive is gone for good.

I'd try the UpperFilters/LowerFilters registry edit first, then uninstall the ODD driver and reboot to let Windows install its Plug-N-Play driver, then check if the ODD is disabled in the BIOS or in Power4Gear. Lastly, I'd try cleaning and/or removing and reinstalling the drive.

Hi, i saw the thread before, the registry solution does not apply in my case. I tried boot up my G75VW with a LIVE ubuntu CD (so to leave windows out of the picture) and yet it can't detect the bootup disc as well. So i can only conclude either the drive is faulty or the lens is dirty (this sound a bit ridiculous since i hardly utilise the drive for more than 10 times). Since my lappy is only 2 months plus, i think i will try to send back to Asus service center in case what i did will void the warranty (if i could not fix it). I just post here to see if anyone could possibly encounter the same problem and fix it without having the hassle to send back for repair. Thanks for the reply !!~~ 😄
