G75vw installing ram - why am I so bad it

I know these threads are popping up every other day but I can't get my pc to boot when installing more ram. It's the mushkins 2X4gb that people are installing just fine. AND I got it installed fine on my G74. I've tried 20 times but it just won't sit properly. Should I just bite the bullet and go into Best Buy with my tail between my legs?

Do you insert the module in a 45 degree angle?

Yup, it's literally foolproof but I can't get it working. The ram works in my old G74. I'll get a picture up and you can tell me if I have anything out of the ordinary.

After you initially insert it make sure the contacts of the ram are fully inserted in the socket along the length it cant be offset at all.

You can even press snap it down and still not be fully fitted in the socket so be sure the contacts are fully in socket before you snap it in flat. Its common mistake to not nest ram in far enough into the socket because people are scared to apply downward pressure into the socket ...even in pc ram install side this happens. The side bracket snap locks down but the slightest offset raised up out of socket will make ram not work.

The top most ram is still kind of loose when it snaps in. Am I not getting it in deep enough? I feel it pressing the inside of the seat though. This is frustrating! Sorry!

It sounds like you might not be putting it in at a 45degree angle...you shouldn't be just sliding it in horizontally, it should be going in at an angle until you hear/feel it hit the back of the slot. Then it should be easy to pivot the back side down so it lies flat and clipped in, youtube search it if you like, I had the same issue until someone here posted an old dell video of how to do it

Well I'm back from Best Buy. Just as I feared I wasn't pushing hard enough at the start. You really ram it in there.

Us people with big fingers are at a definite dis advantage for stuff like this ... but experience also counts for a lot in seating memory properly.
