G75VW GPU Replacement

Hello, my G75VW-bbk5's GPU (GTX 660m) is dying. Is it feasible to buy a replacement GPU and install it or will that be too difficult? I'd rather not RMA my computer unless there's no other option.

Look on ebay its possible, however unless you really know what your doing your better off sending in to a Asus Service center. Problem is your going to pay a lot for a new GPU, That takes a complete tear down of your Notebook, and repasting both CPU and GPU, and reassembly, Now if doesn't work who's to blame? No one is going to take back a GPU that you might have smoked. If you have any warranty left I wouldn't waste any time RMA it. If you don't care about your warranty or don't have any left your decision is simple. Do you have the confidence to handle changing out a very expensive Part that you get no warranty with. I think Asus will guaranty there work for at least 90 days

Well there you go, You do have choices. Here is a disassembly Video If you can find the GPU on Ebay you can do this. But then is it worth the cost of a GPU. There are others in these forums that have changed out GPU before hopefully they will see this thread and give you some advice.
also how do you know that its your GPU that has failed? is it possible that the pasting has deteriorated and the GPU is shutting down to protect itself?

I'm thinking your problem is just a repasting, these cards don't usually die little by little, they simply die. Check your temps, is it shutting down every now and then? I just did a repaste on mine, I usually overclock my card to 1200mhz from 950mhz (gtx 660m). I was starting to get temps up to high 80s and sometimes even 90s, and even though these cards can take that, I did a repaste for precation, now it won't go past 65C fully overclocked. Around high 90s or 100 these cards will usually shut down in order to protect itself from definite damage.
