G75VW CPU swap - 3920XM running okay at 2.9Ghz

I replaced my original CPU, Intel Core i7-3630QM running at 2.4 GHZ with a -3920XM running at 2.9, just for fun, and, as predicted, it will not run. I heard a rumor that the increased power draw of the XM CPUs would be a problem, but I tried it anyway. The unit begins to boot but only displays a half second of the Win 10 splash screen or the BIOS setup screen before shutting down. It is a 3 year old G75VW RH1 in excellent condition and running well before. Running Win 10, dual SSDs, 16 GB of ram, fresh thermal transfer paste, all mobo connections are correct. Interesting note: niether fan comes on during the boot attempt. Any ideas?

I made a serious mistake. I forgot to remove the battery before beginning to disassemble, and, as I began removing the ribbon cables from the upper case, the damn computer came on and booted with no problem! I then made another serious mistake. I began reconnecting the ribbon cable while the unit was running and now everything works fine. I must have misconnected something the first time. The unit is up, idling at 2.9 GHz, and now the overclocking begins.

Nice! Did you have to reflash the BIOS or do anything special?
