G75VW Bios Factory Defaults Bricked My Laptop!!!

AverageK

Hey guys,

I'm in desperate need of help. I was preparing to sell my G75VW and restored the Bios settings to the factory defaults. Of course, like many others, this bricked my laptop. I've tried the ctrl+home method with every single bios file on the asus website, but none of them worked. A user in this thread managed to get a working Bios file, but the link he uploaded has expired.

http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?29307-Another-Briked-G75/page8

Is there any chance anyone else might have it? Or any other suggestions, since my laptop is likely outside the warranty coverage.

Thanks

Do have any activity with the LED (Power, Drive, any LED) when the A/C adapter is plugged in?
Do you still have the "factory installed OS" ?
The ctrl-home-power BIOS recovery procedure will only work if you have the original factory installed OS.
You need the original BIOS.BIN file for the ctrl-home-power procedure to work.
The procedure will search the
original factory installed OS, and then will flash back that original BIOS.BIN file.

I was in the exact same situation with my g55vw. If what they guy above told you didnt work, you are screwed. You'll need to either buy a bios chip and solder it or buy a new mobo.

I bought the chip from this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-ASUS-G75VW-NOTEBOOK-/400456562125?pt=US_Motherboard_Components&has....

He had to send me 5 chips because they were bad flashed(3 didnt work and the 2 that worked had no backlight) so I ended up burning my mobo's tracks and had to buy a new motherboard. Got the mobo 2 days ago, my laptop is now working fine, including the baclight... so if you want to replace your bios chip I'd rather buy it from a different buyer, maybe this one

It took me months of waiting to have my laptop back, and i haven't been able to sell it yet, this bios bug just sucks :(. Before doing this just make sure you are out of warranty... I just feel sad reading someone had the same problem.

Hi guys
Anybody knows where can I find a full BIOS file (8MB) for the G75VW version?
