G75BBK will not boot..weird error after ROG logo

So laptop has been working flawlessly for the last year and a half and I havent had any issues whatsoever short of my recovery dvds didnt work when i did a recovery last year.

Anyway, when I got home from work today and booted it out of sleep the screen said this:

Reboot and Select proper Boot Device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

When I press a key nothing happens. I can boot to BIOS and that is it. I am not computer savvy so I have no idea what is going on or how I can fix it. Any ideas oh wise community?

hit the Esc key on boot up that should bring up a boot menu. Select your HD with your OS on it.
If that fails boot up a window 7 install disk and run a repair install
If that doesn't work you may have a failed Hard Drive? Pull it out and test it with the manufactures Diagnostic tool, you'll download that from there website.

I don't believe I have a Windows 7 install disk. Laptop came preloaded with it. As for the HDD, how to i do a diagnostic? As i said I am not computer savvy and it is my only computer...so I cant download anything right now. I am checking the forums and trying to do this from my iPhone

I usually us the first option. What is the second one for? I know the third takes me into BIOS

The first option is your DVD drive and the second option is your hard drive or Windows.

Don't think it will matter, but make sure you don't have a disk in your DVD drive, or remove it if available, but the computer should normally skip it and automatically boot to Windows if it doesn't find a bootable DVD. You can also just choose the second option to boot to Windows if you see the boot menu, but expect the computer would just start Windows normally after powering on without you doing anything with the boot menu.

Have you updated the bios or changed any bios settings?
Assuming you have the G75VW model with Win7, can you check in your bios under the 'advanced' menu to see if there is a setting for UEFI or non-UEFI boot?

It is the G75 BBK from best buy. I am nto sure what the BIOS settings are at. Just booted it up from the windows boot manager option and it booted up fine. I am unsure why it works now lol. going to restart it and see if it will boot normally or if it was just a funky error.

I just restarted it and it did the same error. I can however boot it up from windows boot manager. I don't what is causing the initial problem though and any insight would be appreciated

What you need to do it run a repair install from any window 7 disk.
Since you can boot your NB, you can download a Window 7 SP 1 HP ISO that you can make a DVD or USB bootable install media. This is a Microsoft official ISO perfectly legal. Your Product Key on the bottom of your NB.
The Repair Install should fix your boot sector. You can check your BIOS, 210 or higher is good, 206 or 207 you should upgrade it.

You need Window 7 SP 1 Home Premium 64 bit, you will also need to set up a UEFI bootable install device. Rufus is the easiest one to use.

I PM to you a flow chart as to how to use Rufus and your downloaded ISO to create a win 7 sp 1 64bit insall media.

Be sure to use esc key to bring up the boot menu and select the UEFI USB to boot from once the window set up file load to your computer select repair Install.

If you have 2 hard drives its best to remove the non os drive while you do this repair install prevents the boot stuff from getting confused.
