G753VL - intel 600p Raid 0

Haven't seen any actual benches for some intel 600p's in Raid 0 for this machine so figured I'd post mine. Pretty happy with the results especially for the price. I mainly do MMO gaming (WoW) so I'm pretty happy with the performance. This is 2 x 256 gb M.2's.



The only issue I have run into is trying to get the Intel SSD toolbox to update the firmware to the newest release. It immediately error's out to error 10/53 when attempting to update. The only conclusion I can come to is the update isn't making it through the Raid controller. I'm open to any suggestions on how to do a forced update as I also tried the firmware updater by ISO boot disk and it only loads to a Linux shell and gets stuck in a login.

Have you tried running them with SATA in AHCI mode in BIOS? I know you mentioned that you run it in RAID 0, but maybe you can update the firmware if you run it first with AHCI mode. It is the same with Samsung 950 pro, when in raid mode, Samsung magician cannot see the drive. It only sees it in AHCI mode.

That's gonna be my last ditch effort due to I already have the system up and running on the RAID array as my primary drive. If I enable AHCI then I will potentially lose all data and have to reload the OS.

RAID vs AHCI was the issue preventing the firmware from being updated. Wiped the raid and booted into AHCI (used windows 10 safemode trick) and was able to update the firmware. So that's two pieces of manufacturer software that won't pass through the default RAID mode on this laptop. Definitely the bios software / interface that's preventing the manufacturers software from accessing the drives. Hopefully a future BIOS update will resolve this issue and no longer require circus tricks for a simple firmware update.

Actually its a Samsung issue that it can't be read through the RAID
