G752VY - KEYBOARD NOT WORKING in windows.

After hybernating at night and being turned on in the morning the keyboard was not working. I dug around and tried restarting holding in SHIFT which gave me several options. I chose system restore to a previous moment which was 22/2/2018 and during this my keyboard was working fine.

After restoring the keyboard was not working.

I downloaded the newest ATK Package 1.0.0057 and removed the old one which was 48 or something in the 40s from 2015. After restarting and installing the new one and checking it was installed the keyboard is not working.

Updated BIOS from 302 to 304. Keyboard worked in Bios but is not working after the pc booted up again.

Still not fixed.

Record button works but nothing else.

There are no keyboard drivers aside from the ATK Package for this laptop. Help please.

EDIT: Fixed

Have you tried backing up where you are then doing a system reset to factory state? Doesnt seem like its a hardware issue if it works in the BIOS and you can get to the Shift function during a restart and get into the BIOS in the first place.

I have a nephew in Indiana named Michael Berg.

Small world! Does my system have a backup function and if so where, or do you mean the oldschool 'put important stuff on external hdd?

I was thinking of uninstalling PC/AT & PS/2 Keyboard (101/102-key) driver in device manager but cant find a driver for my laptop or is that driver universal ? Then reinstalling of course...

I just turned on my G75VX laptop after a week of not using it and the keyboard has the exact same issue after one of the windows 10 updates that just went through this last week. It is obviously a issue with the fact that ASUS does not have proper drivers available for the laptops when they decided to not provide windows 10 compatible drivers i guess.

Has basically killed the laptop until i can find the old driver somehow and force no more updates to that specific part of the computer.

Yes we all should have WU drivers disabled, With Windows Pro ver, this can be done using gpedit on the home version I'm not sure, check the windows10 forum for the registry setting. I'm not going to retype that tutorial here. If you can get back in to windows go to update history and uninstall the offending update.

To solve the issue after a bad WU uninstall that update. The easiest way is to restore the C: \ partition. the image you made just before running the update, then block driver updates. You can easily install any hardware drivers you wish to manually.

We cant express enough how important it is to create Complete Drive/SSD and C:\ partition Images they will bail you out when you can't get back into windows!!!! I don't have any use for any back up system native to windows Macrium Reflect Free works 100% and free there are other imaging programs out there some work better than others some don't work well at all.

I reset the system keeping my old files by shift+restart.

Keyboard works but now my touchpad stopped working.

Now I need a quick fix on getting the touchpad working. Any ideas?

Installed Asus Gestures and touchpad is working again. Only loss is programs installed and bookmarks+tabs in firefox.

yes, this fix would have taken 15 minutes or less with no losses at all, by simple C:\ partition image Restore.

I was referring to the old fashioned back up first the go to control panel and under restore select reset which will put it back to a factory state.*

It’s all under back up and recovery section of control panel which is accessible by clicking start then the gear. *
