G752VS Touchpad Issue...!

I have been noticing that for some reason, if you drag a window or anything else for that matter using the left mouse button (as opposed to double tapping the touchpad and dragging) the mouse seems to skip around the screen... almost as if snapping onto an invisible grid, as to keep movements on a perfect X / Y axis. Anyway... this has become extremely frustrating when trying to fine tune parameters in programs that require dragging the mouse over something and adjusting it slighlty. Even when simply attempting to highlight a string of text it becomes difficult due to the inaccuracy when doing this. This does not happen when double tapping and dragging. When done this way, the mouse remains accurate, but loses the accuracy as soon as you push down the mouse button(s).

has anyone else come across this, or would be able to confirm that this is some sort of annoying "feature"? If so... is there any way that this could be disabled? Or at the very least some sort of workaround.

EDIT:
So randomly I opened up my laptop from sleep, and I found that the mouse was no longer having the issue described above... but also, none of the multi-touch features were working.

Meaning, I was no longer having the stutter issue when dragging things while holding down the left mouse button. I restarted my laptop to see if I could get the multi-touch functions to work again, and once started again, the multi-touch was working again; I could two-finger scroll and whatnot again... BUT the stutter issue came right back.

This leads me to believe that it HAS to be a driver issue or something that can be fixed with software. I am not sure if or how to replicate this, but I have tried nearly everything to fix this problem. I have reinstalled drivers countless times and to no prevail.

If you change any of the parameters and optionsit doesn't actually affect the touchpad configuration. Even deleting the visible touchpad drivers doesn't change anything whatsoever. The touchpad continues to work as "normal"; same stutters, gestures and all. The only way to change any settings is through the Windows 10 settings. Would that mean there is some driver that is overriding even the manufacturers own drivers?

I have come to notice that it is not the sleep function which is stopping the driver from loading. It's the driver itself, it does not load properly again if it's ever turned off.

Disabling ASUS Precision Touchpad driver within Device Manager then enabling it does not bring back the gesture functions (it should). Once disabled, the only way to re-obtain touchpad gesture commands again is to Reboot the system. The driver will not load properly.


ASUS Precision Touchpad Ver: 11.0.0.18 (as listed in Device Manager)

ASUS PTP Driver Ver: 11.0.22 (as listed in Programs and Features)

ATK PACKAGE Ver: 1.0.00.50

It's not the ASUS Touchpad driver that needs to be disabled and reactivated from the driver list. It's the L2C (l2c) HID Device.

One theory I had was that when the computer wakes from sleep, a completely different and incompatible driver takes over and locks the ASUS driver out because something is making it possible for the mouse cursor to move with the touchpad.

Actually, You are correct! It is the IC2 Driver. Is there a way to find this in its directory? If so, one could easily schedule a task to reload that driver eveytime you log on. Similar to another post on here.

I contacted ASUS support AGAIN, i tried about a month ago. No reply. So i'm trying once more. Not expecting much back this time either TBF.

I had the same issue and i could notice the scrolling not working after restart or after sleep.

I have installed this driver from the microsoft site:

N.B. = CAPTA IS BROKEN, (Expired use V2), i suppose a nice way to prevent users Asus custumer to report issues with their machines..

This does not fix the issue in Linux (e.g. Fedora or Ubuntu)
This is the bug in the touchpad firmware itself.
You have the fix posted by Jaegermeister which is corrected firmware for the touchpad IC and firmware burnig app here.
I scaned it with McAffe and Eset updated today and they show no virus or malware. Propably Bahz got false positive as some antiviruses recognize firmware burning apps as malware.

And there is this thread with link the the touchpad firmware which is the same file Jeagermeiser posted.

AND ASUS SUPPORT!!!

Why not send corrected touchpad firmware?
AHH I forgot your TEIR 1 support it's just salesman copy/pasting standard responses from Notepad.

ASUS support is very frustrating to deal with. Yes you always start off with L1 which is someone who follows a TS flow chart but has no clue how the hardware works. They just apologize for the inconvenience and tell you to reinstall something. In this case it would be the drivers or ATK package.

I have a G752VY and just got used to disabling hibernate and sleep. When Im done I shut it down then when Im ready to go again I start it up. Also have fast start up disabled to prevent issues from being reloaded at boot from hiberfil.sys. Lame I know but its less frustrating than talking to a wall....aka ASUS support.
