G752VS Touchpad Issue...!

AvengeTheRev
Level 7
I have been noticing that for some reason, if you drag a window or anything else for that matter using the left mouse button (as opposed to double tapping the touchpad and dragging) the mouse seems to skip around the screen... almost as if snapping onto an invisible grid, as to keep movements on a perfect X / Y axis. Anyway... this has become extremely frustrating when trying to fine tune parameters in programs that require dragging the mouse over something and adjusting it slighlty. Even when simply attempting to highlight a string of text it becomes difficult due to the inaccuracy when doing this. This does not happen when double tapping and dragging. When done this way, the mouse remains accurate, but loses the accuracy as soon as you push down the mouse button(s).

has anyone else come across this, or would be able to confirm that this is some sort of annoying "feature"? If so... is there any way that this could be disabled? Or at the very least some sort of workaround.

Thanks! 😉

EDIT:
So randomly I opened up my laptop from sleep, and I found that the mouse was no longer having the issue described above... but also, none of the multi-touch features were working.

Meaning, I was no longer having the stutter issue when dragging things while holding down the left mouse button. I restarted my laptop to see if I could get the multi-touch functions to work again, and once started again, the multi-touch was working again; I could two-finger scroll and whatnot again... BUT the stutter issue came right back.

This leads me to believe that it HAS to be a driver issue or something that can be fixed with software. I am not sure if or how to replicate this, but I have tried nearly everything to fix this problem. I have reinstalled drivers countless times and to no prevail.

EDIT #2:

-- Copied from a further post -- "I e-mailed ASUS about this issue, and they replied by telling me to reinstall the drivers......... even though in the e-mail I specified that I had already done so multiple times.

Not only that, but they told me that "If all else fails, employ the use of a USB mouse."

ARE YOU SERIOUS? I almost laughed at that comment. Yes, I use a mouse for when I have a table available to me, but THIS IS A LAPTOP. THE TOUCHPAD NEEDS TO WORK CORRECTLY WITHOUT OVERSIGHTS LIKE THIS ONE."

EDIT #3:

-- Copied from a further post -- I have also noticed that the installed drivers, or at least those that are visible to us like the ASUS PTP driver and the ASUS Smart Gesture drivers, don't actually seem to do anything at all. If you change any of the parameters and optionsit doesn't actually affect the touchpad configuration. Even deleting the visible touchpad drivers doesn't change anything whatsoever. The touchpad continues to work as "normal"; same stutters, gestures and all. The only way to change any settings is through the Windows 10 settings. Would that mean there is some driver that is overriding even the manufacturers own drivers?

EDIT #4:

-- Copied from a further post -- "I was able to pinpoint which driver is causing the issues. It is definitely the ASUS Precision Touchpad driver. Once unistalled and restarted the computer, it fixes the stutter problem all together. That being said, just like when the driver crashes, it disables all gesture support. So... It is definitely a problem with that driver specifically. I have tried installing other drivers afterr unistalling the the ASUS PTP driver, but I have been unsuccessful in getting them to work."

I am waiting on a call back from level 2 support. Hopefully if enough of us complain about the driver they will work it out as I am definitely not RMAing it when it's a driver issue.

Yeah. Lol. Why would they waste their time fixing one computer at a time when they could get them all fixed with something as simple as a patch.

Exactly! surely it would be less costly and get kudos from the consumer base (although they don't seem to get a good rep for that)

I too have problems with the Asus Precision Touchpad driver when upgraded to Win 10 Anniversary.

I even made an RMA (DOA) thinking that the touchpad what faulty, but the new laptop had the same touchpad problem as the first, so I did note that an incompatibility between the Asus Precision Touchpad and Windows 10 build 1607 is the source of the issue.

I simply can't use the multitouch gestures on the touchpad when windows start or resume from sleep. I have to, at each windows session, manually reinstall the driver in the device manager to get it full fonctional.
So I reverted the update to the 1511 build.

Please make us that thing fixed.

I made an assistance request through the web site and here is where I stand
:Hello,

I did the factory reset as you suggested.

And the touchpad isn't working as intended. When the computer is started, or when it resume form sleep the gesture function of the touchpad are not working and I have to manually reinstall it through the device manager.

I found some new infos to resolve the issue and it seems to be a driver issue :

In the device manager, under "Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller - A161, there is an I2C HID device, but when expanded I see three input devices (Asus Precision Touchpad / Microsoft Input Configuration Device / HID Mouse) when I think there must be only one device recognized : the touchpad.

Refering to the investigation of this programmer : "http://ivanrf.com/en/asus-smart-gesture-problem-with-windows-installer/#solutions" the Asus Precision Touchpad latest version 11.0.12 support those devices from Elantech: ELAN1200, ELAN1201, ELAN1202 and according to the device manager my G752VS is equipped with an ELAN1203.

So it must be a driver issue that I ask you to transmit to the Asus developpers to make us rapidly a new driver that support this touchpad, because we must upgrade our Windows.

Thank you in advance to communicate this issue to persons who can make a new compatible driver.

Dear Asus Customer,

Thank you for your feedback.

Please reset your device to the factory state to check whether the fault is delivered as "ex works", also appears directly.
In advance, I recommend that you back up your personal data. There is an additional partition on the hard disk to load the preinstalled operating system. When resetting, you can choose to keep your files. Then, Windows is reinstalled. Go to Settings> Update and Security> Reset this PC> First Steps and select an option.

If you can not open the settings, you can also reset the PC by restarting from the login screen. Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key + L to enter the logon screen, hold down the Shift key, and then select On / Off On / Off icon> Restart down right. After restarting the PC, select Troubleshooting> Reset this PC.

Best regards

Well,

Is anyone else having issue with the multitouch gesture control (2 fingers click or scroll), either when resuming from sleep or from cold boot ?
Because I did RMA 2 units, and the third is having the same problem.

A new Asus Precision Touchpad driver came out (v. 11.0.0.13) few days ago, but the driver date is 15 august... and still not resolve the problem.

And it's not only with the Win10 Anniversary update, it's here from the first boot with the OEM Win10 version.

Beside the fact this laptop is really awesome, it's just annoying reinstalling the touchpad driver through the device manager at every boot, or at sleep resume.

Can a moderator confirm someone is working to get this out ?

I´m having the same problem. Did a complete removal of touchpad drivers to the point where it was not working at all then I installed asus precision touchpad drivers.
It still doesn´t work, need to restart after sleep or cold start to get gestures to work. So please Asus fix the drivers, not ok in a high end laptop!

Hi all

is that someone could send me the Asus eSupport Folder file I have trouble with my pc G752VS

thank you in advance

Help me

eSupport folder is in the usmt.ppkg in C:\Recovery\Customizations. Do in admin console

copy c:\Recovery\Customizations\usmt.ppkg d:\

Open with 7zip, right click "Open archive", browse to ICB/0/File/MachineSpecific/$C there it will be.
You can even make your own usmt.ppkg

Hey I would also add bugy/outdated AHCI,NVME bios drivers for G752vy, which do not allow of 1607 install,or systemreset in AHCI mode with nice 0xc0000225 BSOD. Also there is IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD when loading Intel Raid driver when clean installing Win10 in RAID mode on NVME SSD.
You check if G752vs has the above bugs :).
Does the G752vs also come from factory With Windows 10 installed in RAID mode?

I found out that disabling "fast boot" in bios and "fast startup" in Win10 resolve the issue when booting the laptop, but the resuming from sleep issue is still here.
