G752VS OC edition VS MSI GT83vr

Hello,

i am goona upgrade my current G75vx and i am in doubt between the mentioned laptops! I know that MSI has SLI 1070 or 1080 but as i noticed in some bentchmarkes, the score of MSI is less
than AsusG752vs!!! is that for real ??? how it is possible ?!!

the negative point for both is non-removable battery !! but I know that Asus is trustable with a good Fan and good material , but I dont have ant information about the mentioned MSI model, I just read some articles on the website.

Would you please let me know what is your suggestion and why you are suggesting that since i am looking for a laptop which supports me about 5 years with the high - end games.

The MSI is a good laptop; if I had the money that is where I'll put my money into; I think the matter is really preference in what you like; SLi is great but its really not necessary, I believe most games won't even use SLi and if they did the second GPU isn't utilized 100%; more heat and more power consumption.

Everytime someone buys a laptop I always tell them; feel the keyboard and go with which ever one is more comfortable for you to use; Both laptops are great; they will both last you for more than 5 years; todays hardware is extremely powerful and software needs to catch up; I still got a i72600k/GTX580 desktop that out performs everything I throw at it; probably won't ever need a new one for many years to come. Benchmarks are just that benchmarks; in terms of real usage I don't think you'll notice a difference between the two.

I'm not sure why they went with a non-removable battery but they both are easily replaced; just require some disassembly. You'll find that both will satisfy your needs; the decision ultimately is which one you like better in terms of look and feel.

I think it's easier to discuss if you give us your price-point in mind.

I had a maximum of $2000 when I started shopping around, and settled on my G752VS (not OC) for $2100. I checked out MSI and Gigabyte as well. Really, when it came down to it, I went with my ROG because I got a lot more for the money. I was temped for a bit by those Clevo units, but anyone that sells them has a really questionable support history.

I couldn't afford an SLI unit, not by a long shot. I think size wise, most MSI and ROG laptops are about the same size. I'm still shopping around for a bag, but my old one won't cut it. I had a 17" Dell, and this thing dwarfs it.

In my opinion, I think the OC is a bit over-hyped. In a laptop, you'll never get that much headroom to overclock. With past desktops that I've built, I've often shopped and planned for my overclocking fun. Most laptop CPUs will run pretty freaking hot at stock clocks, so I was put off of the OC edition.

I've noticed that most new gaming laptops don't have a removable battery. I don't know why that is, but I hear they are a pain to get to. But I also have to be honest with myself and say that I've had laptops for 20-ish years and only every really replaced maybe 3 batteries. Those were 100% bad and wouldn't power the laptop for even a second.

In benchmarks, SLI doesn't really work to double performance like you might think. So I'm not surprised to see some mistakes that might show SLI being slower than non SLI. I ran a few tests with Passmark on my G752VS and kind of lost interest. It showed my laptop as being worse than integrated graphics. Which is wrong, I know. I know that I could have fixed it, but I'd rather just play games and watch the FPS counter in the corner show 65-75 FPS at ultra settings. 😄

I think its time to continue with MSI, but @Cuniac , would you please let me know if your G73vr is a SLI version or not? because i am in doubt between GT83 SLi and GT73 SLI

One thing that I must complain about Asus G-series laptops is the POOR, I mean ULTRA POOR sound quality; these speakers sounds like crap and that subwoofer is a joke as it doesn't produce any BASS at all;

Asus needs to work in the sound department; These laptops are a joke with sound quality; My old Acer 5750G with an i3/GT630m sounds much nicer than any G-series asus laptop I've ever owned. My only number one complaint; although most folks use headphones or external speakers so its not so bad.

Oh thanks god it's not just me. If I didn't use headphones most of the time, I might have had a real problem. The first time I turned it on and heard the usual Windows noises, I thought there was a piece of plastic over the speakers. Even just doing productivity office work, the sound is *horrible*.

So in addition to poor LCD quality it has poor sound quality (which i already have problem with my G75vx).

After I haveread what @cuniac said and our comments + my experience and google ==> I think its time to continue with MSI brand to gather a new experience! maybe Asus try to improve its products later ...

Where did you read that about the LCD? I'm not a professional, but I think the LCD is great. I'm mean, I just have the 1080P IPS display. If you're getting the 4K display, I don't know anything about that. I have very few other IPS displays to compare it to though.

I have already G75vx which the quality of LCD is low, I can remember about 3 years ago there were many peoples that complained about LCD panel problem.
