Wanted to post this solution for anyone else that might be having similar wifi issues. I recently upgraded from an ADSL connection I have had for years to a mesh router (eero). One of the many new features of this system is a dual band (2.4 and 5 GHz) transceiver. I use the Intel Driver & Support Assistant application on my ASUS G752VM laptop, and after a recent driver update for the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 wifi card I started to have connection problems. I experimented with the before and after driver and determined it was the update causing the problem. The Network and Internet Settings page would report "secured" to my access point, but would not connect. I could delete the device from Device Manager, reboot, and it would connect and work fine until I installed the Intel update again. I ran the network troublshooter and it discovered that the network card was roaming between the two available frequencies, and would periodically drop the connection. I don't know why it wouldn't reconnect after something like that. Anyway, the solution was to designate a preferred frequency and my connection has been stable since. The adjustment is located in Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Change Adapter Settings, then right-click on your access point and select Properties. In the list make sure Client for Microsoft Networks is highlighted and select Configure... On the Advanced tab, scroll down the list to Preferred Band and make your static selection. Cheers.
