G752 rubber stoppers in exhaust vents

I'm a little unsure what to do with these. Am I supposed to leave them in and periodically remove them to allow dust to be blown out or the other way around. Every pic I've seen on a G752 does not show them in use. I can't tell a difference in temperature either way.

I believe they are just for packaging purposes, otherwise the retaining mechanism would be of higher quality then a form of zip tie.

I just left mine in there for additional support under the plastic cover, they don't seem to hurt anything or cause any issue.

Page 27 of the user manual. Out while in use on when not in use.

page 27 in the french manual states it a bit more precisely:
- translated: " you can open the rubber stoppers to remove the dust..."
- translated : "ensure they're closed when the notebook is not in use"
So i'd say "out while cleaning the dust, always on otherwise"

Page 27 of the English manual reads, "You can open the rubber covers to discharge dust from the anti-dust tunnel. ... NOTE: Ensure to close the rubber covers when the Notebook PC is not in use." (basically the same as the French)

Therefore, I would agree with delestai, because this is how I interpreted it as well. However...

After running my laptop consistently (i.e. 24/7) for about 3 months (not much gaming...but lots of apps and trinity display) with the dust covers in, the operating temp has gone up about 30 degrees over those 3 months... from 100F new to 130F now. I assumed it was just a break-in period. However, I just removed the covers and it's running consistently about 3F-5F cooler without them.

The key word in the manual reference is "can." "Can" is an optional word. But, I'm wondering if something got lost in translation? Anyone know the official story with these dust covers?

Seeying at how the dust removing system works I use both stoppers out from the vents everyday, whether or not I use 'normally' the PC and leave stoppers removed the night as well. I use PC for CAD development and temperatures did not go over 130F ever.

I will install them in the vent just if I leave my PC unused for long time, the which things did not occur yet. 🙂

Off to purge the dust. Leave them on while running and you are totally circumventing the new design. Mine are in the box and that's where they will stay.

I think these are just rubber bumpers for protecting the protruding area during shipment, but the manual clearly states to ensure to close the rubber when the laptop is not in use. I don't see any reason for closing, perhaps to keep insects from entering? hehehe.
