G751JY world premiere Webcam issue

Just got my G751JY. This laptop is really Awesome. I upgraded from a G75, that I upgraded from a G73. So this is my third ROG laptop. I love them, the G751 is better in every aspect; screen, sound, keyboard, graphics, heatpipe, design... I will post a better comparison/improvement overview from previous models when I'll be in the mood.

Two days ago, I realized my WebCam was N/S. As well as the integrated microphone. They are not even showing up in the device manager, it's like its unplugged. Chatted w/ ASUS support and they suggested RMA. NewEgg confirmed. I will RMA. I'm just pissed of having to retuned it for such a stupid issue. Everything else is perfect.

I fear having dead pixels or other surprises on the replacement... when I get it. Wish me good luck!

i have the same problem as you, just bought this pc in november, and the webcam worked for like 1 or maybe 2 month but now it doesn t. its like it doesn t recognise it. Did they fix it for you? or told you what to do ?

It turned out to be a nightmare. I sent it to a local store which was an ASUS authorised repair shop. They confirmed the webcam problem and order a new one, as well as the cable. They recieved the wrong kit. The actual kit was back order for 3 weeks. When they recieved it, it was still not working. They sent it to the ASUS repair shop. They had to change the Motherboard, it tooks 2 weeks for having it repaired and returned to my local shop.

In short, it tooks 8 weeks to fix a WebCam issue... That was a Motherboard issue

In the process, they lost one of the rubber nipple covering a bottom screw, and I can hear something loose moving into the laptop when I turn it upside down (like a free screw). I will have to turn it back to the repair shop to get it right.
