g751jy Pcie ssd questions

Hello!

I have preordered the g751jy in norway, but there is still limited information on the actual product.
The only information on the ssd is that it is 256gb m.2 disk. Is this the pcie version. And does all g751jy ships with a pcie ssd?
And the information i got on the store is that it has only 16gb ram. And i cant find in any other country a g751jy with 16gb.

So im a little frustrated with the lack of information i can find out about it.

🙂

BAD NEWS!

G751JY currently available at x-kom.pl in Poland ALL DO NOT HAVE Pcie M.2 connector soldered in. SIC!
Even if sold with SSD drive... SIC! It is still only SATA3 and no M.2 connector is present. So it can't be upgraded any more this way.
Also the price is little bit higher than the previous batch that had working Pcie M.2. BBBBLLLEEEE.

I will try to confirm it from a different source... if it true or mistake.

Confirmed. G751JYs available in Poland from March 2015 do not have M2 soldered in.

Good news

Hi guys,
I'm from Germany and I've bought a G751JT-T7095H yesterday.
It has a 2GB Hdd and a 256GB Sata 3 SSD and a big surprise : PCIe M.2 connector

I will pick up some pictures in the evening.

Best regards

So I have done an RMA on my 2nd G751JY-DH73-CA and now have a third one. Interesting that this 3rd one has a 15GB recovery partition (as you can see above the other 2 had 12GB) and the data partition is 3GB smaller.

ASUS Backtracker cannot currently record a recovery image to USB thumb drive in FAT32 format because while it splits 8GB inatall.wim image file into 3 smaller asus.swm files, it does not try to split the custom.wim image which is now 4.3GB in size and over the 4GB limit. The first 2 units had S/N starting with F1N0WU..., the current one has S/N starting with F2N0WU.

Any idea what's the exact SSD comes with the COSTCO models JY (980M) and JT (970M) in US available now with 24GB RAM. Is that XP941 / SM951 / simple 2.5 SSDs ?

Is there a minimum free space you should keep on the ssd? I remember people telling me not to fill my "old" crucial m4 more than half its capacity. So I have 61gb free of 119 total.
The version of the asus g751 that I'm interested in has "only" a 128gb ssd, and I will probably need more than 60gb in the future, when I install windows 10 and all updated software.

La versione in commercio trovata in europa e quella nvme, sulla Asus g751 non viene riconosciuto come di disco di boot acquistate il modello xp941 ahci.

Thanks for the valuable info. I'll have to flash my BIOS to 207 from BIOS 202 then I'm going to try cloning my partitioned 256GB XP941 to the 512GB SM951 so I can keep 😧 my steam games partition intact (using an external BPlus M2M PCIe M.2 -USB3.0 Adapter/enclosure and Acronis True Imaging 2015 Cloning software or some other drive cloning software).
