G751JY PCIE SSD compatibility question

SPACECOWB0Y

I am interested in updating my SSD but I can't figure out if this SSD that I am looking at is actually compatible and wanted to know if yall can help please. I have a G751JY and I am looking at either the Samsung 960 EVO 1TB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E1T0BW) or the PRO version same size. I appreciate any help you can give. Also happy to provide any other information that you would need.

If you haven't seen them and are interested, check the threads below and if you didn't already know, you can also use the search function to look for older related threads if you want to try this. Thanks and hope it helps some, but hopefully we can hear from others about it.

Wow, thanks. That is helpful. I tried to use the search feature to go through the forums for information on it but it just kept turning up no results so I decided to post. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction though.

Glad to help and we might need to have some sort of guide on searching as well it seems.

fyi.
Not sure if this is the problem you were running into with searching the forums, but I've found you actually need to get into the forums section first to be able to search for any ROG forum posts (I searched for 'g751 ssd' at the top of the page next to the facebook and twitter links while in the forums if you want to try it or look for more threads about it although many may be older).
If you search from the http://rog.asus.com/ 'landing page'/homepage, it seems to just search for the articles posted on the homepage rather than any forum articles.

Feel free to ask for more current information about the G751JY and SSDs if necessary though since many of those related threads are older.

AFAIK, Asus G751JY only supports SATA SSD and of course it doesn't have any slot for either M.2 SSD or NVME SSD. So, if you're planning to upgrade for a bigger capacity SSD you've got to buy SATA SSD for your laptop, not M.2 nor NVME one.

Thanks for the feedback, but if you refer to the general G751 guide below which should also apply to the G751JY but might not be completely accurate if a different model was used although it shows the location of the M.2 SSD slot if you have a unit to check.

Below are some articles from other G751JY customers who have discussed it if you want to take a look.
