G751JY ODD-->HDD and RAM tinkering

Im going to buy the G751JY when my local Finnish retailers get it in stock next month.

If some ASUS represantive or other well informed person(s) could answer couple of my questions regarding the laptop it would greatly help me with my tinkering plans.

1. I have planned to buy a 256GB SSD to go with the included 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD by replacing the ODD with 12,7mm HDD slimline caddy and moving the 1TB HDD to the ODD slot and the slapping the new 256GB SSD to the HDD:s former slot.

Is this possible by opening the bottom of the laptop and unscrewing 1 screw that holds the ODD in place like usually in other laptops?
Also is the ODD connected via SATA II or III?

I formed this plan because im going to dual boot Windows and Linux Mint from separate disks and I dont want to exchange my internal organs for 2 1TB SSD's.

2. Is one of the RAM sticks placed to the other side of the motherboard so that getting to it would call for a full disassembly?

Hoping for answers and waiting impatienly for start of the next month >__<'...

WhiteEyeDoll, congrats on the new G751JY, it's awesome 🙂

As you can imagine, there isn't a lot of info available yet, but that should change in the next week or two as people get them and upload images of the internals.

In the interim, you can download the manual for the G751JM - page 97-105 - it's the only G751 with an online support area right now - the G751JM is a shallower body, but from the outside it looks like it is laid out the same.

We rarely get product info or questions answered from Asus tech people, and the site support people are already busy with their work - it doesn't hurt to ask, but please don't be upset if you don't get a response from them.

In my experience the answer to all your questions is positive, you should be able to do all those things ok 🙂

Hopefully someone with a JY will show up and upload some photos!
