Hello everyone,
My laptop is the G751JY with i7 4860HQ + GTX 980M 4GB model
Playing Mafia 3 in a 20C (68F) room/ambient temperature my CPU gets 92-96C on the cores and 3100rpm on the fan, only at 48-52% of usage.
My power options is to leave CPU at 100% when using the AC adapter, monitoring by MSI Afterburner and Aida64 (I open system stability test without running it so it saves maximum statistics, pic below).
My question is: I was going to disassembly and install Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste on the CPU, the problem is that the heat-sink is attached to the GPU on this laptop and I don`t have their thermal pads to reinstall, does anyone knows where to get them? there is some on eBay but looks stiff, not like the OEM. I know that they are really soft by the pic below, exactly the same as my previous G750JM.
Also, do someone who Has the same laptop can please report the temperatures?
I have a little overclock on the VGA and the GPU temp don`t goes over 82C at 100% of usage, so idk why the cpu is getting so hot..
thanks!

Plenty of places to get thermal pads for the Vram
Here is just one. Same source has multiple choices. Just search thermal pads.

Is that your motherboard or a stock photo? If you haven't done it yet, you can usually reuse thermal pads as long as you keep them clean. On other laptops/video cards, I've used a very clean plastic scraper or a credit card to carefully separate them.
However, I know that if you search on here or just look through the last few pages of posts, there was a thread recently that discussed the thickness of the pads. Honestly, thermal pads aren't that good anyways, so there isn't that much leeway in how good/bad the replacements are. Don't buy the generic brands and you'll be fine. If you're concerned about stiffness, Arctic makes some pretty soft ones.
