My result hanged do 6.2 from 0 by turning off NVidia icon and changing power plan to high performance.
I've i-7 4750HQ so it is little slower. No OC

I've been telling you for a while that the 970m will do just fine, but who listens to me?

I was able to get the 6.5 on my G751JY not by changing my background, putting my power plan on high performance or some other hairbrained scheme but by setting my CPU to max overclocked and clocking my 980m at 1275/5400 using PRIMA's modded bios.

Changing the background to solid color was easier.
Congrats on the world record graphics OC! More than double on the core and 4x and then some on memory is pretty impressive!

My CPU i7-4710HQ is standard apart downvolting -75mV core, -55mV cache and boosting uncore/single thread from x35 to x36. I've also set powerplan on high performance and with nVidiaInspector set the following OC for my 980m (never flashed modded BIOS or VBIOS):

The result is 6.3.
We have a powerful PC, considering is "just" a laptop. It's quiet, has the best performance in its single gfx card category, and contrary to other models never recorded GPU/CPU throttling. Very satisfied except sad surprise of SATA2 port, disastrous pasting (I'm going to repaste it ASAP as I've read CPU temps can go down -15°C to 76°C max with Arctix MX-4 and a good work!), and the G-Sync issue (upgrading soon). 🙂

Finally, after overclocking the CPU and the GPU a bit, I was able to touch the 'Ready' status.

NVidia drivers 368.69, Windows 10 1607 build 14393.105, High Performance mode, GTX 980m 4GB OC:1138/1353MHz G-Sync.

Notice I surpassed "(High) Fidelity" and reached "(High) Quality".

P.S.
Didn't close anything or changed background etc.

I just picked up this laptop and the vive for Christmas. What were the settings you used to get 6.9? Did you add the paste yet? I'd like to know more about the OC because I've only dabbed into it before and I don't want to destroy the laptop.

So far I've added a 500gb SSD and that's all. I was also wondering what the two slots above the HDD are. I would assume it's for ram but the PC already has 16gb and those slots are empty?

If you can answer any of my questions I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
