Here is the image for G&51 tear down, as seen below G751 overall design improved a lot with more solid hardware including enforced keyboard, now your keyboard won't "loose" like G750. And The GPU is integrated into the motherboard sharing high quality copper heat pipe with CPU. Two large fan to drive heat away from G751. Overall build quality have improved BUT Bios code, drivers still buggy.

No! The inside is full of lies. The CPU and GPU are both soldered onto the motherboard. Not upgradeable in any way. Personally, I'm quite disappointed - but considering it was 22% cheaper then the Dominator G72 I had as an alternative...

Well, tbh, a new piece of hardware like the CPU or GPU is pretty expensive and it's not quite a bargain to change them. It's more efficient to sell the laptop and just buy another one in 1-2 years if you want to keep the pace with the new technology. The difference will still be the same, believe me. And while changing the whole unit you'll get another warranty, a fresh case, newer CPU+newerGPU + new battery + new all. You got the point :P.

And about the guy that disassembled his G751JY (careful OP, cause you have written G751JT :p, although it's the same). I don't quite understand why did he do this if he said he had a bad OC. The CPU fried or smth and wanted to do a charity action by showing us the dismantled unit ?!? Weird things are happening ...

both soldered is a good idea, you can play the games as hard as possible, burn the GPU, RMA for the whole motherboard. Good idea. I think Asus is now manufacturing V2 or V3 G751 motherboard which improve stability and bug fix. SO next time, don't be an early bird! early buyer will always get something buggy!

Hi Jlieu,

Were you able to remove the IPS panel during your tear-down? I have a theory that the IPS glow / bleed that most are experiencing is having to do with the rubber clips or something underneath the clips being too tight and would wish to see if loosening it a bit would remove the glow. Not too confident tearing it down without consulting others before I do it.

removing the screw cover underneath the screen, view from speaker, you will find it. then remove the screw. then you can open the casing.
But first you have to disassemble the G751, partially. to remove the screen from body.

I'm thinking about repasting cpu and gpu in my G751JT.

Do I need any thermal pads for other components ?

Am I going to be ok with just a 4g syringe of thermal paste ?
