This is 100% normal, standard behaviour for all laptops that I have seen in the past 5 years. What you described in your post sounded more like your battery not charging at all, just discharging. What's actually happening is your computer using a standard method of battery preservation and Windows knows this, which is why it's telling you that it's plugged in but not charging - simply because it does not need to. You should actually worry about your battery being at 100%, not about it being at less than that.

The idea is that once the battery hits around 95-98% charge, charging stops in order to prevent battery life loss as these batteries should not be charged to full. This is controlled by the built-in power/energy controller. Once it hits that point the battery begins being trickle charged, just enough to keep it at a steady level. Otherwise you would see the battery drop to 97, 96, 95 etc as each day passes by. Your battery continues to be charged extremely slowly to keep it at 98% until you actually use the battery.

In order to make sure your battery will last as long as possible, fully discharge it once a month. It'll last years.

You were almost going to try "fixing" your 100% functional battery, heh.
At least you spared yourself the laugh the tech people would have given you at the computer store 😄

You have nothing to worry about.

Hi guy i also have same issue. You guyz gona surprise lol how i fix it. Its the input lead that you guyz plug into the laptop. Just press it hard into the laptop. I dont know why they have designed such a cable for this laptop.

Hi All,

I am new here. Last week i brought new gaming laptop Asus GX501VIK. Its looks great, stylish and gaming performance is also good. Last day i upgrade my windows home edition with current version. Now i am getting the same problem Plugged in, Not Charging. I dot worried about that. Because i can't create new post so i write in this post. My query, is there any way i can upgrade my asus zephyrus laptop battery in recent few month because its battery life is too short when i am playing game its only provide 25 to 30 minutes. And normal work its given 1hour 10 minutes. Please Asus upgrade the battery life minimum 1 and half hour when playing game with asus zephyrus. So we can upgrade our asus zephyrus battery with new one.

Sorry for my English.

Regards,
Tanvir.

Here you go,

Unless it's actually not charging when the battery is low and is sitting around 95% or more when plugged then it's working as expected.

My G75JT is currently sitting on 98% plugged in not charging. Also my old G75VX which is 2-3years old now, does this as well, never had any issue with it.

Hope that helps,

Mine does the same thing, Its normal.

G751JY.

By the way, if you find you plug the AC when your battery is low on power and that it only charges up to 95 % and stops with plugged in, not charging you may need to recalibrate it.

Mine often will charge up to 100 % Then bleed slowly over the next few days to 99, 98 etc with the same, plugged in, not charging...unless i unplug it, let it go down to 50% and then plug it back in again.
Sometimes if i turn my laptop off, completely off with the AC plugged in, and leave my USB stuff in, ie my mouse, headset etc....It seems to power them via the battery and not the AC, took me a while to figure that out 😛
Would come back then next day and see mine saying 91 % plugged in and not charging haha

This isn't the only laptop I've seen this behavior on. As long as it is running on the plug and your battery isn't losing power and also charges when you run it on the battery for a bit then plug it back in you should be okay. In the future after a lot of use the battery may not even be able to reach 90% full capacity when plugged in, but these machines aren't designed to game on the battery for any extended time so it really shouldn't affect any of us unless you bought this machine under the assumption it was a battery gaming rig.

Your battery is dead, happened to my G751JY two days ago!
Same Problem 0% not charging, I asked in a nearby Hardware shop and they confirmed it.

Edit: I just saw you can remove your battery, buy a new one it's the most easiest fix for you. I can't do that for my model *cry*
