Welcome to the forums!

Doesn't sound normal to me, so you may also want to discuss with either your store or local ASUS support if you haven't already.

If you get the chance, look in Windows device manager for the display adapter and make sure it is really the 970m.

You may want to see if others have better suggestions, but if you have the wrong model of bios in your motherboard, there will not be a way for you to flash a different model bios since it isn't something that normally would be necessary or you would want to do.
If you can check with any ASUS service centers near you though, they may be able to help you flash the correct model of bios without replacing the motherboard assuming that is the only problem with the system.

Unfortunately, don't believe there is another way although you may want to ask around more and wondering how this happened since it sounds rather unusual.
Good luck!

P.S. May not be too big of a deal, but it's usually safer for you if you don't post a picture of your serial number, so you may want to remove that picture.

Hi, did you buy this laptop brand new or is it 2nd hand or refurbished? If it still has warranty, it is best to claim warranty.

I bought it from a friend who bought it from USA, i currently reside in UAE, Dubai, so claiming warranty is impossible for me. I tried Asus Tech Support but they are of no help either.

Hello Mr.Navid
Thank you for your inquiry. Can you tell me since when was your laptop's BIOS a G751JL one instead of a 751JT BIOS?
Was it already like this when you got this laptop? Or did you flashed it with a G751JL BIOS before?
If so, was the Bios updated downloaded from our official website?
Can you tell me which method did you contact ASUS support? By phone? Online chat? Or other methods?
Which country of Asus support did you contact?
Meanwhile, your concern has been reported to our tech team. I'll get back to your once I have more information.
Thank you

Thanks for a replying, i never flashed the bios i was trying to update my nvidia drivers in order to play a game Battlefield 1 when it refused to update so i was forced to use drivers provided by Asus which were last released in 2015. i contacted Asus via email and i have all the logs they said the same that they will look into it but so far no reply and it has been months. i talked to Nvidia support and they said i need to comtact vendor for Oem drivers. hence i tried to update the bios via WinFlash and found out the bios problem when it showed G751JL 202 bios version. the unit has no repair history as per my friend. morever when i use winflash and update via web it does update to 205 at least thats what it shows me and asks me to restart the unit but after the restart it still shows G751JL 202 bios version.

i contacted asus support UAE & Pakistan. because i travel a lot back n forth.

try running hwinfo or cpu-z to view what hardware you really have. Seems like you have a G751JT forced to have a JL bios or maybe the unit went to the repairshop and they put in a JL motherboard and swapped out the GPU. Ask your friend about the history of the laptop. If performance is on par with a JT, maybe it will not be an issue (IMO). Test with benchmark tools such as firestrike and etc and compare results with JT models from notebook reviews.

Is it possible the BIOS files are region specific? Going through the US support page might make the difference. Just for giggles, get your BIOS file from here and try it out.
