G751JT booting issues after SSD installation

Hello there, these days I've changed my HDD to SSD. It's connected via SATAIII (instead of HDD) and it's running properly (max speeds as producer claimed). I've moved my HDD to second bay for storage space. I installed windows, drivers and everything run properly without any issues. There's only one main problem during boot PC shows one extra screen - all back with blinking underscore to the left on the screen. During boot PC shows 3 screens, before it showed 2 (on HDD). 1st is a logo of motherboard (ROG Asus logo), 2nd is black screen with blinking underscore and 3rd is a windows logo (loading system). To be clear, everything works fine, windows boot and SSD works at it's speed. Only that one extra screen bothers me, because it take 3/4 seconds (most time of all these screens) during boot and because it wasn't there before.
My observations:
1. Bios run on defaults.
2. I've read that graphic drivers may cause something like that but before I installed newest nvidia drivers problem still existed.
3. I've installed every possible driver wich PC needed.
Any suggestions? Please help !

now... about your "odd" boot screens...

• As you already stated - this happens PRIOR to windows -> thus, drivers has nothing to do with that.
  
• You wrote "1. Bios run on defaults." -> are you familiar with one of the basic ideas of "creative thinking" ? the answer is always closer then you think....
  Enter the bios and ENABLE "FAST BOOT"
  
• you wrote "I installed windows" - can you please elaborate how ?
  is your SSD formated as GPT ?
  Have you made windows installation through a GPT based FAT32 formated USB ?
  Have you choose in the boot menu selection to boot that USB as UEFI based device ?
  if any answer to these question is NO ->
  
  • format the HOLE SSD as GPT ( this will destory ANY data of your SSD ) ->
  • make windows 7/8/8.1/10 installation USB based GPT+FAT32 as instructed HERE ->
  • make sure you boot this "windows installation usb" as UEFI device ( like in this image )
  
  

Last but not least, a small request - when you reply, please describe ANY small detail like SSD master table type ( MBR/GPT), how you formated the disk ( which app? version ? ), how you boot the OS installation disk, what parameters are config in the bios concerning boot ? etc....etc...

Thanks for your reply. I saw that my post was lost somewhere on forum so I decided to refresh it that everyone can see it - that's why I up'ed it.
Before I fully reply explain please, what do you mean by:
1. SSD formated as GPT.
2. Windows installation through a GPT based FAT32 formated USB.
3. USB as UEFI based device?
4. SSD master table type.
So far I can tell you:
1. SSD was new (out of box).
2. I've installed windows through bootable CD which seller added to my laptop. Booted installation through CD (selected in bios boot device my DVD reader) then continued with it. Formated SSD during windows installation (NTFS files type) and that's it. If you need more info about installation then just ask, cos I don't know what more you could need.
3. I don't have such option in bios as 'fast boot'.
4. More about UEFI - I've realised that I can't run bios through Win8.1 options anymore, before I could (maybe it's important clue so I mention about it).
5. In bios boot page I have options like:
Boot config:
- Launch CSM, Enabled
- Launch PXE OpROM policy, Disabled
Boot priority:
1. SSD
2. DVD reader
Hard drive BBS priorities (SSD selected)
CD/DVD ROM Drive BBS Priorities (dvd reader selected)
Delete BOOT option
Somewhere else I found in bios that my SSD and HDD run in AHCI mode instead of Raid.

1. SSD formated as GPT. - One can "partition" any storage device that the PC uses either as MBR or as GPT.

The reason is simple: You want to boot the OS faster -> thus, the OS need to be installed on a UEFI compatible hardware config to work with UEFI setting -> thus, you need to install the OS through a DVD/USB that is compatible with UEFI boot method ( Open the URL ! )
3. USB as UEFI based device? - read the above comment
4. SSD master table type. - my bad, I should have writen: "layout of the partition table on the SSD" - which I expained in remark #1 above

So far I can tell you:
1. SSD was new (out of box). - storage devices usually come with MBR as partition table. just think how good conspiracy it is: OEMs sell top-of-the-line HW, but if the consumer doesn't know what GPT is - they pay for just fancy slogans while in the end they do not utilize the true "power" of their HW.

If you need more info about installation then just ask, cos I don't know what more you could need. - - Orig CD/DVD of windows might contain the "efi" files under /efi/boot necessary to boot the installation disk in UEFI compatible mode - BUT - I know windows 7, for example, does NOT comes with "efi" files ( in the right folder ), thus creation of an installation USB is needed, cuz you need to extract these "efi" boot files from within one of the files on the disk.
The good news is that from Win 8 above, MS decided the UEFI is a MUST for every retail computer - so I guess on Genuine disks thre isn't any problem. ( Problem arises by using copies of the disks which aren't 1:1 original, which might be missing these "efi" files in the right place.
3. I don't have such option in bios as 'fast boot'. - Please read your laptop's full manual before coming to that conclusion.
As far this thread title says - on the G751JT ( What I got as well ) when you disable CMS - "Fast boot" option reveals
4. More about UEFI - I've realised that I can't run bios through Win8.1 options anymore, before I could (maybe it's important clue so I mention about it). - Please read your laptop's full manual.
You'll see that you can enter the BIOS settings screen by pressing ESC while the laptop POST ( I.E performing boot in the first few seconds, usually when you see Asus/ROG/INTEL/weird "DOS" like commands
5. In bios boot page I have options like:
Boot config:
- Launch CSM, Enabled - Please read your laptop's full manual and the comment just above
- Launch PXE OpROM policy, Disabled - Please read your laptop's full manual or just google it m8.
PXE OpROM is a feature that is being used in large organization like corporations and maybe public libraries. leave it DISABLED.
Boot priority:
1. SSD
2. DVD reader
Hard drive BBS priorities (SSD selected)
CD/DVD ROM Drive BBS Priorities (dvd reader selected)
Delete BOOT option
- good - this is how it should be in day-to-day usage.
- Please read your laptop's full manual to learn that you can still force the system to other device using the boot selection screen, after pressing ESC during POST
Somewhere else I found in bios that my SSD and HDD run in AHCI mode instead of Raid. - AHCI is the option you want to go with, as RAID require identical two or above HDD/SSD, a technology utilized in servers and ppl who're afraid to loss their data, but really really afraid from it or in the case you want 1 very large partition across multiple storage units( Read more HERE )

Okay, thanks for reply. Now I know the differences.
1. SSD is formated as MBR. Btw. SSD is Samsung Evo 850 250GB.
2. I mention about that I can't enter BIOS through Win8.1 settings not that I can't enter BIOS, because I know how to do it. I am just trying to say that I could do it before (I remember there's was option which included UEFI in description). For me it means that before I could have formated HDD as GPT.
3. I disabled CMS in boot section but option as 'fast boot' didn't revealed. I've tryed to save and exit when I disabled it but PC kept restarting to bios. Later when I checked boot section my SSD and DVD reader dissapeared from options so I again turned CMS on and my SSD and DVD reader appeared again - everything comes back to normal state.
4. When I press ESC during POST then small window show up and I can choose only SSD or DVD reader as boot option.
So far my conclusion is that I need to instal windows again but using methods which you mentioned. Anyway, do I need that USB to do so? Or my CD with Win8.1 will be enough? Formating SSD as FAT32 won't be a problem later in using it? With compatibility of files I mean. I ask because my HDD wasn't formated as FAT32 and it been working as GPT.

• ssd formated as MBR - there is your main cuase for slow boot.
  As I said - format it as GPT when install everything else with UEFI compatibility ( read my posts, see the attached links\URLs )
  
• Read the damn manunal already - look for the BIOS section, to better understand how to disable CMS ( aka bios/legacy mode ) and by diabeling that you force the system to boot at UEFI mode ( again, CMS disble in the bios ).
  The fast boot option might decrease the boot time only in 1-2 sec... not such a huge diffrent.
  using SSD in a UEFI booted machine, with OS installed in UEFI comaptible manner - is the key for a fast boot.
  
• I never said to format the SSD/HDD as fat32- only the USB - Only in case \efi\boot\bootx64.efi is NOT exsist on the DVD
  If so - use the guide I linked and create that USB ( min 4GB flashdisk ) and make SURE that \efi\boot\bootx64.efi exisist or else win 8 installationcould NOT load it self in UEFI compatible mode.
  
• forget that silly "enter to uefi" when you enter the special reboot screen in win8 and above ( pressing shift while presing on the restart button will lead you there ). its important only if you want to boot the OS in safemode or to disable driver signature enforcment. The was you enter the BIOS/UEFI on G751JT is by pressing ESC during boot.
  
• don't be surprised that when you disable CSM in bios you can't boot the OS -> AS IT WAS INSTALLED IN LEGACY MODE WITH LEGACY COMPATIBLE BOOT FILES !
  ONLY if you wish, an advance action, ONLY after you've googled it - you can ghost/backup your hole C partition, format the SSD as GPT. maunaly create the relevant partitions on a GPT based HDD/SSD ( GOOGLE IT i'm serious !!!! ), restore the image into one of the large NTFS partitions you've created, boot the installation disk again and perform "boot repair" -> this method will allows you to fix the missing boot files that weren't installed in the first place and finally allows the windows to boot in UEFI mode.

I understand everything. Just explain to me one more thing. I've installed windows at my friends PC. He bought same SSD and.. he don't have such issue like I do and yes, he have SSD formated as MBR just like me. How?

I have the same thing on my laptop and i still didn't checked but i think that this thing must have something to do with the boot order, i think i left the usb on top of the HDD since i installed windows from usb, that's why the hold up occur, but like i said i still didn't look up at it, because i just remember about it when i reboot the laptop and it's rarely.

Thanks for answer. I've changed boot order to boot from SSD first, so I really don't know why it still happens :c
