G751jm Ram Upgrade, but test out 3dmark slower??

Hello Everyone,

I just installed New Ram into my G751jm. I made sure I got 1.35v (not the compatible, but the straight 1.35v). I picked, G.Skill DDR3L - 2133 PC3L-17000 8192MB x 2 CL11-11-11-31. Model ID: F3-2133C11D-16GRSL

I based that choice off a thread I read in this forum which stated that RAM (only in 32gb configuration) worked fine in the G751jm with good results.

I got 16gb. My 3dMark Sky Diver got cut in half going from 12k to 6k. Any thoughts? Are there adjustments I need to make?

I got the 12k results from stock RAM : Samsung 4GB 2x 1Rx8 PC3L-12800S-11-13-B4 , M471B5173DBO-YKO

Did I make a mistake in the purchase of the GSKill RAM?

Thanks ahead of time,

Hi did you check if the ram frequency is actually set to 2133mhz? Although even if it was 1333mhz it would give you better results. Try using only 1 stick, check results maybe something wrong with sticks etc. Anyway definitely weird.

Thank you for the quick response. CPUID is showing the memory DRAM Frequency at 1064.2 Mhz +/-. When it comes to setting it on this machine what tool is best? (I have successful experience with O.C. 3 desktops, but my last Cyberpower Fangbook I bricked using XTU) I will be exercising EXTREME caution with what I use on this system.

Ok, so the frequency is good. Now try to use one stick only. Did you remove the ram sticks underneath the keyboard? Try troubleshooting hardware at this point. Looks like the Bios set frequency correctly.

OKAY..... do I claim Magic?

I ran 3dmark just after installing Asus GPU Tweak (restart required). NO CHANGES MADE. I got 12707 score. Much better then 6402 yesterday. NO HARDWARE CHANGES or tweaking done. Any thoughts?

I would still like help confirming my RAM timing and what to use to set it! I have only done desktops through BIOS. I check this G751jm's Bios and it's very basic no adjusting options. Given my last attempt with a gaming laptop and BRICKING the WHOLE THING. I would love input.

Thank you in advance

Well glad to hear everything looks good. As I said your Ram frequency is good, you said 1064.2 x 2 = 2133 mhz. You dont need to make any adjustments, looks like everything works fine.

Might be simple, but are you sure that you are using the exact same test in 3dmark? If you forgot to uncheck Extreme, that would explain the score being cut by 50%.
